Do we know for certain if Charitie Luper is leaving the UCLA program. Can a player enter the transfer portal to explore options then ultimately stay in the program? Luper confirms on IG live that she will not be returning to UCLA, has made a decision. School is not in CA and she will announce early next month. |

Hello folks-- in the hopes of consolidating a few threads about the Bruins for next year, I'm kicking off a UCLA 2023 thread to keep fans of the Blue and Gold organized. (Thanks to bruinsgold for making my morning by sharing the news of a new head coaching hire). This officially kicks off the Reft era for UCLA volleyball, only the third head coach in the storied program's history. How are we feeling about the hire? What are our early speculations for the roster next year? I'll be updating this post as we get more information about the lineup (including transfers in and out of the program). Thanks for your help in keeping Bruin volleyball fans organized. RETURNING PLAYERS
Mokihana Tufono (S)- Sophomore Katie McCarthy (DS/L)- RS Sophomore Cheridyn Leverette (OH)- Sophomore Grayce Olson (OH)- Sophomore Peyton Dueck (DS/L)- Junior Francesca Alupei (MB)- Junior Iman Ndiaye (Opp)- Senior Audrey Pak (S)- Senior Kate Lane (S)- Senior TRANSFERSGreat idea. I would add the incoming players for 2023 that have already signed. Ashley Mullen (S) - Frosh Brooklyn Briscoe (MB) - Frosh I am also not sure I would delete Anna Dodson (MB) - Grad. If Dodson likes Alfee or the coaches he is bringing in, she could stay. |

Agree. What about Dodson. She could stay. If she stays, Bruins will still have height a height advantage at MB. Dodson 6 ft 5. Briscoe 6 ft 4. Alupei at 6 ft 4. With Alupei healthy, that could be a good strength. |

A few people with inside knowledge have already said it is almost certain that Dodson will be transferring. |

In the transfer portal tea, but have not seen one of those in the portal trading cards, like we have seen for others. If she was in, I assume there’d be talk about her like Luper and Dodson. |

Reft needs to get moving. Wenaas and Parra in the portal. He can build a stacked team like Texas 2022 if he wanted lol An unproven first year D1 head coach at a program experiencing a decent talent exodus landing top transfers doesn’t seem very likely. |

OK, done with other UCLA threads. Will stay here now.
I'm guessing UCLA budgeted about $165k for this hire. This is a great hire for that type of budget. And given the final candidate's relatively sparse CV, I'm also guessing they closed this deal at under $150k.
