So John Hyden brokered this switch on Tri’s behalf.
Excellent article, with quotes from everyone involved except Trevor. Agree that Theo seems to have a good attitude about the whole thing.

Very interesting to read about Hyden's role. I have to admit watching him and Tri play together again made me think about what-might-have-been for that team if Tri hadn't gotten sick.
That said, I'm not convinced that Chaim is Hyden 2.0, although I can see the argument about Tri needing a change. From his comments on various Sandcasts, it seems like he was really trying to make things work with Trevor but maybe they weren't quite meshing on the court.

I think Tri/Chaim have a higher ceiling than Tri/Trevor by a decent margin.
I don't think Trevor or Theo will do as well with whichever partners they team up with, as they have with their former partners.
Tri/Chaim should be the USA's #1 team by a mile. This partnership is kind of like Cheng/Hughes.

The article intro is straight from the volleytalk Theo thread Was thinking the same thing. Clearly Travis is still lurking here even if he rarely posts anymore.

The article intro is straight from the volleytalk Theo thread I feel like VBM had to post their story asap after the rumours on here started. Haha

Haha At least they didn’t wait for some random Brazilian site to break the news this time! But it seemed pretty obvious that something was in the works when Theo posted his story and the Doha sign up deadline was just days away. They wouldn’t have been able to keep it secret for weeks the way Mel and Brandie did.

This was a nice article, congrats to Volleymag. More of this kind of articles is what many of us whant to see. And I don't see any negativity here. Just reporting a partner change, something that is integral to the sport.

I was really hoping Tri would break free and try something new. Trevor is great at what he does, but a change was needed for sure. Good timing I say— they’ll hopefully have that “new team energy” sustain them to Paris.
I was hoping Tri would give Partain a call, but logistically it doesn’t make sense. Partain isn’t fully committed.

"Miles Partain, the VolleyballMag MVP and AVP’s Best Offensive Player and Most Improved, has already made a firm commitment to Andy Benesh."
