Her overall B1G record looks bad but I have a hard time faulting Johnson for a 4-16 first season when she arrived on campus to a roster of 6-7 players left over from Cathy George. Several of which were non P5 level players that have since left the program (Danziger - Jacksonville State, Stothoff - William & Mary, A. O'Gorman - LSU Beach, Olin - Central Michigan, M. O'Gorman - South Alabama). Cathy George deciding to retire in mid January rather than after the season also left them in a bad spot in terms of recruiting from the portal. Correct- you cannot get any information from that first season. I don’t think any coach could’ve done much with that -especially if you factor in the injuries that season to Poljan, Nunez, and Monks. Those three missed a lot of the season. On a semi-related note, I wonder if Sarah Franklin would have stayed at MSU if Cathy George had never retired.

And Nebraska beat them easily twice <3 what a completely random and irrelevant thing to say lol… You referenced your memory of the 2017 team lol. I referenced a memory I have of that team, which was Nebraska having their number despite them having a great season and being an awesome group for Cathy. Is "madden's favorite teams" relevant/important? Relax.

Yeah, in some ways I get these views but what I think is hard is other coaches step into tough situations and have success in first couple of years. Ex.) Arizona State, Missouri. And if I remember correctly Franklin was in portal before Cathy retired.

It's not triggered, it just that your opinions are consistently bad. As you post without citing one of those “opinions” that “are consistently bad”. Your intellectual ignorance is sad…. but I sense you feel good now… #sad4U but you know that… 🏐 The post I responded to was a perfect example. I thought was obvious, but I guess I lack your intellectual rigor.

Setter Lib DS Bishop Iosia Staniszewska Berger Horesji Clayton I foresee another 6-2. S: Bishop and Muisenga OH: Holdem and Courtley M: Kulig and Okur OPP: Moore and Doezma L: Iosia We actually have some depth this season with lots of options on the outside. I could also see Mia Hood starting in the middle over Okur.

Holdem won't have to do it by herself on the left anymore in conference. And if there's another DS playing I could see it being one of the freshmen Bolton or Foley.

Why Courtley over any of the other outsides? I see she had 400+ kills, but thats at Rice, not against the toughest competition (non power 5). Definitely agree there are a lot more options on the outside....

Rice isn't in a power conference but Courtley had solid performances against P5 teams - 14 kills against USC, 16 against Baylor, 10 kills hit .280 against Texas, 23 kills against Kansas State.

Anyone at the scrimmage against Eastern Michigan tonight? Would love to hear how MSU looked and any lineups they played with!
