I think the conventional wisdom--whatever that means these days--is that Trump won't win a general election. If the CW is he can't win or is very unlikely to win, I think the CW is wrong. Biden is/will be the favorite against Trump, but my rough guess is he's a 3-1 or 4-1, rather than something more prohibitive. And with the likely chance of the Biden admin teaming with Republicans to gut social spending and the less likely possibility of them just crashing the economy through rate hikes or default, it wouldn't take much for Trump to overcome those 2020 margins. My assessment of conventional wisdom is based on general observations of media/political commentary. I wouldn't say the CW is that Trump can't win, but that the chances greatly favor Biden and Trump as the opponent generates the least anxiety.

Well - when you have news organizations that tells a total lie - or imply something that isn't happening. No books were banned - and The Guardian should be ashamed for reporting this. To start with - the state of Florida has nothing to do with this. This was a school district (I believe in the Miami area and a very liberal school district) that did their annual review of books and decided that 3 books were more age appropriate for middle school than grade school. As such, the book that was 'banned' according to this article was just moved to the middle school library - where it will probably be read more often. This story gets picked up Political and Axios - despite zero reporting or understand of what is going on. We get this kind of crap reporting about Florida every day...

Florida is definitely trying to turn itself into the Afghanistan of America. Talk about ridicules false equivalencies. Not to mention the huge increases in people and businesses that are moving into Florida is at odds with this statement.

Florida has been one of the states with the highest net influx of migrants since air conditioning was invented. Inconveniently for you, that inflow decreased in 2022!

I believe I was quite clear in my post when I said that "a school" in Florida had banned the poem based on a complaint from a parent. Please show evidence that this is not the case, if you claim that it is not true.

Why not say; "Liberal educators in a school district banned book" It would have been inaccurate (closer to the truth than what they printed), but they wanted to imply that the state of Florida is banning a book in order to fit their anti-DeSantis narrative. From your article you posted: <<In an interview with the Herald on Monday, Salinas said she “is not for eliminating or censoring any books.” Instead, she wants materials to be appropriate and for students “to know the truth” about Cuba, she said in Spanish. A school materials review committee — composed of three teachers, a library media specialist, a guidance counselor and the school’s principal, among others — however, determined one book, Countries in the News: Cuba, was “balanced and age appropriate in its wording and presentation” and would remain available for all students. The four other titles were deemed “better suited” or “more appropriate” for middle school students, despite acknowledging that at least one book, The ABCs of Black History, was written for ages 5 and up. The books would be kept in the middle school section of the media center, the review concluded.>> Anyway the poem isn't being banned in Florida Schools.

Please show evidence that this is not the case, if you claim that it is not true. A school district (made up of liberal educators) in Florida moved a poem from the grade school library to the middle school library. This isn't a normal definition of 'banning'. And your post was in a DeSantis thread as a way to brand DeSantis as some kind of evil person banning books - otherwise, why even post this in this thread?

Lets see of DeSantis can close the gap between him and Trump. His big pre announcement video was powerful but is DT's lead to big to catch? He is frankly more electable in the general election. He has a great track record and is well liked among conservatives. Twitter I think is a great idea. Use the social media site that Trump made famous and go head to head.

Florida is definitely trying to turn itself into the Afghanistan of America. Florida is immensely successful and thriving Mike. People love the freedom, the police protection, etc. Why do you think New York and California are emptying out and moving to Florida. If this is the Afghanistan of America sign me up.
