I also preferred Noordermeer, think she's a better defender and generally scrappier and smoother, but I don't see any scenario where Rouseau is a B1G RS. Yes she's 6'3" and a lefty but I don't think she jumps well enough or has a fast enough/heavy enough arm to be effective. I know my sample size for that observations is just her going on two and getting set ocassionally out of system, but just my two cents. Not af all saying she should switch to Opposite, but unless Davis picks up at least 2 (but ideally 3-4) legit attackers she may have to. Rousseau has some special skills, but she’s surprisingly a poor blocker. Rousseau is quite unathletic, has a weak arm, generally has poor movement and can't block. I'd rather see a walk-on (or Drew Wright) play RS/OH instead of Rousseau. Our depth in the front row is shockingly low, to say the least. If TTA and Becker came back, the team honestly would have been quite strong and balanced. Really wonder if Davis was clueless in roster building and expected more seniors to return.

i would not use the word “unathletic” to describe anyone who plays at this level.

Front Page updated to show Becker to UCLA (following Lugo-Rodriguez). Rumor is that Thomas-Ailara is visiting Minnesota, will she follow Kelsay?

When writing criticism about a student athlete, we might take a beat.
These are not professional players. When our negative comment gets to it's third or fourth criticism (as in "She's not this, she's not this, she's not this, she's not this")....we've probably moved into over-kill. A quick summary might suffice as: "I don't think she's strong enough to be a starter".

Please know VA, that I'm not coming at you, but I would like to know why we make a distinction between college and professional athletes when it comes to criticism. This one is more of a general question, but I also wonder why it seems like we rush to protect college women athletes.

Now Northwestern needs to land at least one MB via the portal. Any news on if other transfers have visited? That thin roster is going to be a big problem…

That thin roster is going to be a big problem… Looks like 6’5 OH/Opp Julia Sangiacomo is signed for the Cats this fall. That gives them some much needed size, and allows Randorf to likely move to the left. Now they need at least one sizable MB and probably another utility hitter and they will be in decent shape heading into the fall.

Incoming first year Drew Wright is an undersized OH, but is spring, fast and plays with a high IQ. However, she’s on the stacked Sunshine 18-1 team and appears to be the starting libero (and looks pretty good). So not sure how Davis will best utilize her, but with her that makes for 3 solid libero/DSs along with her incoming classmate Navarrete and rising junior Ellie Stinson. *Current Roster Best Viewed On Computer Or In Landscape Mode On Phone*
