Curious if Davis will redshirt any of the rising sophomore class, namely one of Hernandez/Reid and Noordermeer/Carter (I believe Noordermeer was on track to redshirt last year until Rousseau's injury). It's now a class 6-deep, and with only 2 in '23 and 1 incoming for '24 – and COVID years being done as of 2024), so would make sense to balance out a bit. This season looks pretty strong and deep roster-wise, but 2024 will be another 1-year transfer portal scramble for Davis and co, and he'll need to pull in 4-5 strong attackers in 2025. Any early scoop on 2025ers favoring the Cats? *Current Roster Best Viewed On Computer Or In Landscape Mode On Phone*

I don't think Davis is going to be redshirting anyone after today.

Who wants to go to the school if there's an athletic department blackeye Penn State, Michigan State, and Baylor say hello. Like I know it’s been a little bit, but it’s not the first time an athletic department has been turned inside out and it won’t be the last. Northwestern will survive.

I don't think Davis is going to be redshirting anyone after today. I wonder if the allegations and legal lawsuits will also include Davis' other assistant coaches such as Kelsay, now at MN, who were there at the time of these incidents? It seems they all had to be in the know when it was happening. Kelsay wasn't named in the suit, but it did come to light that the reason the 2021 matches were forfeited was because the entire coaching staff was suspended, not just Davis. My question is what you do if you are Coach Keegan and have hired someone who was suspended for mistreating players. Did she disclose this in the interview process or did he find out in the press? I'm sure the Gopher players are only just finding out about it now. How does that bode for building buy-in with her? Even if she didn't "do" anything, it appears she also went along with it and didn't do the right thing in the moment, which would be to speak up on behalf of the players. That's a pretty big red flag (both personally and professionally) and if I were a MN player, would run, not walk to the ADs office. My other question is about the announcement that Coach Davis won't attend the BIG media event tomorrow because he cannot discuss the litigation. Ummm, the litigation will be ongoing for awhile, is he not planning to do any press all season long? That seems like...not being able to do a big part of his job for an extended period of time.

At the very least she is an insurance policy against what happened last season. Carrying only 2 setters turned out to be an issue. The year before they played several matches with only one available as well. Yeah, but do most programs have 3 true setters on their roster? Last year was just tremendous bad luck for Northwestern. as far as I know, Wisconsin only ever has two dedicated setters on the roster. Nebraska had three last year (Evans, Orr,and Hames), but Hames was supposed to be a DS.

I trust Cook will do due diligence with his staff and act accordingly.

If this is really just about tough drills and punishment for potentially being out at a party during covid restrictions and/or drinking during dry season, I am sure she has nothing to worry about and they just need to be more careful and see the warning signs from the next kid that tries to play victim while lacking no accountability. And if Shane survives this it will get treated with lawyer and PR firm gibberish declining to speak on it, but this is way too fresh with everything else going on at NU to throw him to the wolves right now.

If you polled high level athletes and gave them options for what they'd want as a "punishment" for breaking team rules, the overwhelming majority would prefer running to a suspension/benching. The difference here is that this kid wasn't getting any playing time anyway. The Minnesota athletes ABSOLUTELY already knew about this situation. A team in their conference forfeited matches for non-COVID reasons, there's no way the 'why' doesn't get out. And I suspect they support Kelsay.

Statement from the head coach. Smart move? Or a cop out. Definitely the most prudent move to make.
