The UNC athletic director has not shown the knowledge to even know who a good target is for the coaching job. He has contacted some coaches for input about "possibilities" who would not be candidates for any other major jobs. The best hope for UNC is that he accidentally makes a good hire. That sounds like they want to go cheap on the hire.

If put in an endowment (likely), that would cover one scholarship, annually. Or about $50k to the operating budget/HC salary.

That was a nice gift. However it did not get the UNC volleyball budget out of the bottom half of the ACC.

Does anyone have any clues as to the identities of interviewees for next week? At least their station in life right now - P5 AC, P5 HC, etc.?

If UNC is taking applications then UNC isnt serious about this job search: UNC MAKES A LIST AND CALLS : they do not go through applications !!! I don't know if this is the case in North Carolina, but many state schools have to follow state law on job openings and often that includes posting the job. I know Texas has that requirement. My post isn’t about “legalities” of course you have to post: and that gets applications: but they dont hire by reviewing applications: they actively search for their candidates: example: to hire a foriegn coach and get an F1 visa: you have to post for job: best place to post is local paper: less qualified people see it: you put requirements to position that limits pool; than you hire the foreign assistant because you prove there were no qualified candidates and you get the work visa. Its what you have to do. But you aren’t looking for applicants , your following procedure

She was also on an H1B visa, I believe, and they had zero interest in ever replacing her. When they had to "publicly" post her job come contract renewal time, they would stick it on a flyer in the basement of one of our classroom buildings, down the hall from the athletics academic advising office.
