That could be said for may jobs filled over the past two years. Some have worked out so far, a couple have a wait and see feel to them. Yeah. Mike was as probably as close to a "coach in waiting" when he was hired as you can get.... but still he wasnt. No good AD is going to forgo a look at the world and see who steps forward. Takes time. "No good AD..." Arizona moved on from Dave to Charita in about a day. Washington hired Tui in under 2 weeks (including Xmas) and I don't imagine they were expecting an opening this offseason. Are you calling those ADs out for not doing their job? Most AD's or sport administrators keep a list of names for each sport, in case they need to do something. Oklahoma's AD is one of the best, he let his coach go, made his calls and announced a new coach from outside the program in 14 days. UNLV lost their coach to Missouri and it took 16 days (including Xmas and New Years) to announce their next coach. Sure it takes time, but post holiday, post bowl season, during a quiet period it doesn't take this kinda time unless you let it.

Unless you have a contractually obligated “hc in waiting”, you owe it to every constituent of the school to understand the market. An AD can have a drawer full of lists, but the AD doesn’t own the athletic dept. And yes I’ve been part of lots of coaching search….on both sides.

If I were a prospective SA I'd certainly want to know. Why would a prospect care about this, let alone be entitled to know?

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to spin here, but it's definitely spin.

Who cares… Mike’s the head coach. Move on… you don’t want to know what you don’t need to know. Dumb comment. Of course people want to know who the candidates were and what the process yielded. It can indicate where things are going. If I were a prospective SA I'd certainly want to know. Haha. No. That’s not even close to reality with PSA’s. They couldn’t care less about who the candidates were.

I feel bad about reviving a dead thread (I'm lying here).
It's for a good cause (no, it isn't).
Even though it's not about volleyball (at least that is true).
I told you so!!!!!
I'm referring to the squawk given earlier in this thread about UNC hiring 22-year-old Erin Matson to be head coach of the field hockey team. She won the national title in her first year on the job.
