I'm interested to see how Chicoine does in the Big Ten. Will she have a Hudson type impact or will her size be a concern against the top 1/2 of the league? She's been fun to watch over the years at the club level. I would be extremely surprised if Chicoine has a Hudson type impact her first year out. Then again, I was surprised by Carter Booth's first year being as successful as it was. Then again again, Chicone isn't 6'7". Given that Chicoine is about the most highly regarded recruit ever to come to Purdue, my expectations are sky high and I expect her to make an immediate impact. She showed that her size is not an issue on the U21 national team at the PanAm Cup. (Have you seen her jump?š³) And sheās one of the most competitive kids Iāve ever seen. I think the ā23 team will be damn good.

Not to be that guy but while everyone's so worried about how Chicoine is going to do, may I direct your attention to the setting first. Renner needs to have one hell of a spring season!

This squad is already being massively overlooked, IMO. Hudson and Chicoine are incredibly competitive kids and will bring tons of attitude. Theyāre both cold blooded assassins and have a chance to be one of the best pairs of pins in the B1G. And Colvin still has soooo much upside offensively. For me, the big keys will be the development of Lizzie Carr (or Myers) and the other freshman pins. I believe Heaney AND Wollard can both make big impacts. And with Skimmy and Hornung both back (and the addition of Chicoine), I expect defense and passing to be very good. Obviously, Iām optimistic.

Iām thinking with Myers Purdue will be ok. While not a ton of experience she seemed poised when she did enter. If Carr battles for time that means good things for all.
Chicoine didnāt have the best UA game, but smaller players have less room for errors and with the short time togeth-yada yada yada. If she is an OH thatās like having two liberos on the court at once - and Hudson aināt bad either.
True setting is the question mark and Colvin needs the consistency so Iām too hoping for a good spring. I know thereās a freshman lefty opposite but any chance that Warren could get a look there? Sheās pretty physical, but I think weāre gonna find the ball control OHs Purdue has will make it difficult to take them off the floor.

Some of the best collegiate players never even played in the UA match, let alone shined in them. I have no idea how Chicoine is going to do at the collegiate level, but I do know that her performance in the UA match will have zero bearing on what she does in college. Nuneviller is about the same size, and look at what she accomplished in college, conversely, there have been giants in the game that were super hyped that turned out to be complete flops - Spelman at Stanford, Morgan B. at Nebraska, McMahon at Illinois... I could go on.

ā¦And was awarded best OH at the PanAm Cup so weāre back to not putting so much weight one meaningless āscrimmageā which is what it is.
