-Finally, someone asked what his goals were for the team starting in 2025 and he said that the first year he wants the team to finish in the top 10 of the SEC and within 3 years he wants to be in the national championship. without any transfers that first year goal is gonna be difficult. but a natty after 3 years... Anders ur the goat but thats awfully ambitious lol This is interesting because I swear I read an article from when he was first hired that he laid out his plan and it definitely included transfers for 2025. I mean they only have one setter commit so far, he has to get more, right? I'll see if I can find that again.

Exciting times! I don't know what I'm talking about, but the OH players don't seem very tall for an NC run.

Right after he first got hired I remember he talked about bringing in a couple grad transfers year 1 just to have some experience on the court the other girls could lean on, I wonder if that's still the plan.
Edit: slay beat me to it. This is what I get for not refreshing before posting.

If Nelson can find an experienced transfer or two willing to sit out a year, he'd be happy to take them for 2024, but he knows most of his efforts will be focused on getting transfers for the 2025 season in hopes that his team won't be made up of entirely freshmen. "Realistically we're thinking two to three transfers. We'd love for them to be impact players, but I don't know," Nelson said."

but a natty after 3 years... Anders ur the goat but thats awfully ambitious lol perhaps he meant the national championship TOURNAMENT (i.e. making the NCAA tourney). still pretty lofty goals for a startup program, but at least a little more realistic

Well, to be fair, that was when the portal was ripe for the pickin and full of potential talent. I think that portal ship has sailed. While there will be a few people moving, VB players have found that all the big moves are made by the big programs behind the scenes. The others rarely find a home or make an impact somewhere.

I think it's clear he was talking playing in the National Championship game. I know that's a tall task, but isn't that the point of goals? Vandy Volleyball has a lot of things going for it, not sure going into the SEC timid is going to get you anywhere, and besides, the only other goal I think he could have stated is winning the SEC, which isn't THAT far off from playing in the National Championship game.
I like the chutzpah!

Anders ur the goat but thats awfully ambitious lol The football team has a better chance of being in the national championship in 3 years than the volleyball team. Sad thing is, I don't think that's true ha

Signed several transfers, one appears to be grad transfer, Are they going to be able to redshirt and still play in 25?

I don’t know if I missed it on another page, but it looks like Vandy has received a verbal commitment from middle blocker Ariel Chime for 2025.
