I'm just here to say going against ay2013 is NOT the hill you want to die on, especially since he is very far from a Purdue fan š 100%. I do not care about Purdue, but Iām a reasonable volleyball fan, regardless of affiliation, and the Hudson disrespect is unacceptable. Everyone needs to rid themselves of this notion that just because Nebraska can sign whomever they want that they MUST be the best. It isnāt true and we need to stop perpetuating it. There are great volleyball players everywhere. To suggest that Purdueās OH āisnāt even closeā to two top 5 recruits who have done almost nothing in college for the last three years and a player who hasnāt even played a college match, is ridiculous. Now, do I think that Shondell has been a lucky loser in the recruiting battles, 100%. Am I salty about that, you betcha. There isnāt a single program that has benefited more from pure geography as Purdue, and yet, here we are. But it is what it is. Hudson had an incredible freshmen campaign and she was asked to put Purdue on her back and without her Purdue would not even have made the tournament. The same cannot be said of Batenhorst or Krause. Murray has been a high performer in prep play but so has Chicoine. People need to get over the UA game, itās one match, who cares. Letās not pretend Murray hasnāt looked pedestrian in a match before- she has, Iāve seen it. I dunno what the future holds for these players but based on past play, suggesting that the Nebraska OHās are better than Purdueās and that āitās not even closeā suggests to me that you arenāt watching the same volleyball that I am.

I dunno what the future holds for these players but based on past play, suggesting that the Nebraska OHās are better than Purdueās and that āitās not even closeā suggests to me that you arenāt watching the same volleyball that I am. I agree with you for a lot of this. Hudson carried Purdue as a freshman and clearly earned the Big 10 FOTY award. Had Purdue made the second week of the tournament, she would have been at least 3rd team AA and would have been a strong candidate for the NFOTY award. Were her stats always the best? No, but thatās not because she was mid or anything. It was because she WAS Purdueās focal point and opponents had her name bolded, underlined, and circled on every scouting report. For Chicoine vs Murray, I donāt follow high school/club stuff so I donāt have much of a sample size of either player from before they got on their respective campus. For Murray, the fact that Nebraska had their spring game televised and their international games streamed (and since I had to watch them for peace in my relationship š), I have a better idea of what she brings to the table in Nebraskaās than I currently have for Chicoine in Purdueās system. Regarding Krause and Batenhorst, yes they havenāt received a ton of accolades since joining Nebraska (Krause was on the Big 10 all-freshman team her first season and each was named to a āregional all-tournament teamā during the NCAA tournament - Krause in 2021 and Batenhorst in 2022), but 1) they were supporting players behind Madi Kubik and Lauren Stivrins their first season, so they werenāt going to be showered with as many awards, and 2) Nebraska and their carousel of setters were a mess offensively last year. For Batenhorst specifically, I give her props for stepping in as a 6-ro player late in the season and holding her own in serve receive and defense when she hadnāt had to do that previously in collegiate play. She showed that she could step up when needed and I think that bodes well for Nebraska this fall. Ultimately, the OH pairs for both Purdue and Nebraska are going to be very fun to watch next year and Iām looking forward to seeing how both teams perform. I just have Nebraska slightly ahead of Purdue in this category based on what I know and donāt know about each team.

I watched most of two Purdue Spring games. The Wisconsin one was unfortunate because Renner was out so obviously that messes a lot of stuff up, but in general what I saw from Chicoine was a very athletic, good all-around player (but as I recall not a great passer) with a cannon of an arm who will be great hitting in system but struggled to hit OOS. It is possible that eventually with that cannon she can start tooling the block effectively.
What I saw of Murray was someone not as well-rounded but still able to play 6 rotations and who has great finishing ability (partially based on more height and similar athleticism), a really nice arm, but not the boom stick of an arm that Chicoine has. And Murray's current game seemed more college-ready to me, but again, I'm working with a sample of three spring games. I think Murray's ceiling is much higher than Chicoine's.
Now, if Chicoine can pass consistently this fall, and with Hudson and Schermerhorn also being good on serve receive, that could make a big difference. Then all you need is one of the setters to emerge and now Purdue becomes a really good side out team and the lack of big arms isn't such a big deal.

I thought for sure we would have seen a Big 10 schedule on Friday. The post and run technique. But nope.

Seeing team posts regarding last year's schedule on 6/14/22...shouldn't be much longer

Here's Wisconsin's schedule. You have to watch the video - average Wisconsin Badger-On-The-Street attempts to name Big Ten opponents based on their logos. It's hysterical.

Just looking the schedules among the top 5 in the poll at the beginning of this thread.
1. Mn, PSU and UW have the easier schedules, each playing two of the other 4 only twice, including the one with the lowest votes (Purdue). They all play Neb twice though. 2. Neb and Purdue have the harder schedules, playing three of the others twice. Neb plays away to Purdue for the one opponent that each meets once.
So I would say two things: -Purdue has the toughest schedule on paper this year, but Nebraska plays them away so maybe that helps them. -Hard to pick among UW, PSU and MN for who has the easiest. Since the badgers are one of the two favorites, I'd guess you'd have to say them, but they have to play PSU in Happy Valley, and that's never been easy.
I don't particularly like this schedule. It just seems less interesting - fewer juicy matchups. But we'll see. Some teams could surprise us.

If you are a contender than it behooves you to get all of the top teams at home because you are going to beat the other teams anyway, so you might as well get them on the road.
For the bottom feeders, it's the other way around. You aren't going to beat any of the top teams, so you might as well get them on the road. That way you get home matches against the teams that you actually have a punchers chance against.
So with that in mind, how would you rank the Big Ten teams by most to least favorable conference schedule?
