I hate to break it to you, but I’ve heard almost of the GR starters are not returning. I’m not sure if it is all of the teams, but I’ve heard contract talks won’t start till June & the players will be signing 2 year contracts.

Wonder why many of the GR players are not planning to return. Also, isn’t June rather late to have contract talks? Or, is the June date to minimize options of players still considering overseas teams; many of those teams have already named most if not entire rosters. Well, it seems Italy and Türkiye have named many rosters.

Yeah, it's not what I'm used to.
We have Rampage Arena Football players who still live in the area. The team became defunct in 2008!
And it's not like football players didn't have options between the CFL, World Football, and the countless AFL copy-cat leagues.
So, I don't think it's the organization or the city. It doesn't seem to be the pay structure.
And, the whole "getting cut" thing? Every professional athlete in every other sport I know has a "I'm gonna play so lights-out they can't cut me" kinda attitude.
Is there no one in women’s volleyball with that mindset that they'd rather play Europe?
So different from what I'm used to.

Is there no one in women’s volleyball with that mindset that they'd rather play Europe? its more like why risk getting cut when you can have something fully guaranteed. you can go get your 40k-60k net contract overseas (or whatever amount) and not have to worry about being cut three-four-five weeks in and only getting 5-10k of whatever you were supposed to get. and you're out of a job.

The pay isn't enough to uproot your life to risk "getting cut", especially when there are other options elsewhere, yes. The reward if you make the team is generally not good enough either. The getting cut near the end of the season, is kind of insane to me. Yes other professional leagues have the same rules, but it's pretty rare in the high quality leagues. (Mainly because there's not a bunch of better players suddenly becoming available when their league ends)

That might be the most tragic looking "recovery room" I've ever seen. It literally looks like the part of my basement where I store lawn chairs and my bike over winter.

Brooke Nuneviller will be back with PVF next year. Didn't specify what team. Working with the league in the off-season.
