The first match against Loyola Chicago is just over three weeks away. Does anyone have any insight/guesses when ticket sales will open up? Tomorrow is last day to renew season tix i believe, so hopefully starting Tuesday

We all know what Henno can do. Sakanoko is likely part of the future puzzle to what our options are at opposite. Even more needed now that Mandic, another expected piece, is looking like he might not be an option this year. Opposite is not going to be the problem, Hawaii is losing two great outsides in Spyros and Chaz. That’s the massive hole that needs to be filled. Yea…next season lol I’m talking about what’s the IMMEDIATE need

Opposite is not going to be the problem, Hawaii is losing two great outsides in Spyros and Chaz. That’s the massive hole that needs to be filled. Opposite is the problem this year while Hawaii doesn't have Dimi and waits for Kearney. Outsides are a next year problem. That said..... Rodriguez possibly filling Chaz' position on the floor defense, there's hope there. I Agree with cosmo and babybacksets that Opposite is the immediate problem for 2024. Well, Spyros is listed as OH/Opp. I wonder if they're testing moving him to Opp, Chaz to OH1, and Kai.R to OH2 during practice.
Passing & serve receive got exposed during the Penn State & UCLA games as Hawaii's #1 weakness, so any moves they do gotta address that.

UH could play with 3 OHs and whomever rotates to front right will hit from that spot. Spyros has hit well from the right side when he rotated there in the past. He probably won’t be a full time one because he doesn’t seems to hit much of the D set.
Don’t know how well Oguz is doing. Not counting in Alakai Todd to do much. If Todd couldn’t get his game going after 4 4-5 years in the program, I don’t think another year will make a difference.
We are probably going to have to rely on the young guns to fill the OPP spot. Either, Oguz, Mandic, Sakanoko Nidiran, Justin Todd or Zack Yewchuk. Finn and Wade coming in next year will strengthen that spot.

Since I'm not as intimately informed and experienced in the men's game, I decided to watch a few sets from Hawaii's recent match against the University of Tsukuba in Japan and then the Big West finals vs UCI in Irvine.
It's so eye opening going from watching the women's game into watching the men's game. There is no comparison outside of the basic techniques/skills employed. In my opinion, the men's game is superior in almost every way.

I'll take more service errors (and some spectacular ones at that) and less rallies for the beautiful execution and superior athleticism any day! Thelle and Rosenthal have faked me out about 10x today lol We're about to get the final four going on the women's side and I'm over here wanting it to pass so we're that much closer to the men's season.

I've watched the men's game. I just haven't played it or coached it. It's always alarming to go from watching women to watching the men. Like, where is the ball? LOL!

That could work but I'm not sure moving a senior, all-American 6 rotation outside hitter and primary passer to opposite for an unproven freshman is wise. Moving that many pieces to shore up one perceived problem is rarely the go-to option. More new factors are introduced and need to go well for that plan to be successful. In my opinion, Chakas doesn't have the type of arm swing necessary for an opposite. Hopefully and ideally, one of the newcomers or Alaka'i can slide into the position and hold their own.

Even in slo-mo, the ball disappears!
