Also, we went to the pub for a drink a few hours prior to the match, and it just happened to be where the Swedish fans were having their pre-game meet up. Very entertaining (Merv - same spot the US supporters gathered at). The Swedish Football Association president was there, and fun fact, he's also a former Prime Minister of Sweden.

20 minutes in and Australia vs England is 0-0... but feels like this game has several goals in it.

20 minutes in and Australia vs England is 0-0... but feels like this game has several goals in it. And it ends with heaps of goals (3-1 England). That second England goal was such a defensive woof from Carpenter. Sam Kerr had an absolute wonder strike, so glad she had a moment like that after missing such a big chunk of the tournament. Australia had some good periods but overall were outplayed by England.

Spain v. England should be a good final. One traditional European power will get their first Women's World Cup title.
Edit: since apparently some have poor critical thinking skills, I'm talking about traditional European powers on the men's side.

Kerr had some good chances to equalize after it was 2-1 but couldn't put them on goal.

Good lord. If that's the standard, it's Germany and Norway (and maybe Sweden), and that's it. I'm obviously talking about the men's side. It is well known that many of the traditional European (and South American) powers have not really supported their women's programs until fairly recently.

"Good lord?" You are incredibly defensive.
I'm not sure why you would talk about the men's side in a women's world cup thread, personally. And no, I'd consider traditional European powers on the Women's side to be Germany, Norway, England, Sweden and the Netherlands. All of those teams have won a major tournament (Euros, Olympics, or World Cup). And then after them, Denmark and France.
Do you realize this is only Spain's second world cup? The first being in 2015? They are pretty much the opposite of a traditional power on the women's side; instead they're a really exciting, new and rising power in Europe.

Spain had never even won a knockout stage match at a major tournament (WCup, Olympics, Euros) before this year. I don't think they've even qualified for the Olympics yet.

And correction *third world cup (first still being 2015). We were... lucky we got past them in 2019.
This is one of my favorite matches in recent history -- I'll take Ertz (sad face) clutch headers on repeat please.

That first goal from Toone in the Aussie-England match was a beaut.
