Congrats to Spain. They join Germany as the only countries to have won the World Cup on both the men's and women's side. The next country to accomplish that feat will likely be France or England. Though given how quickly Spain rose to the top (this was just their third-ever World Cup appearance), it's certainly possible that Italy, Brazil or Argentina could break through on the women's side in the next decade or so.

Unsolicited kiss is an interesting term for sexual assault It's a more specific term. Because that's what it was. It's like saying "Ford Pinto is an interesting term for a car." Well, no, it's not. It *is* a car, yes, but it is also a Ford Pinto. The guy grabbed the head of the player to make sure she couldn't back way from the kiss. I mean, this is bad, you know? Deserves punishment. But it's not wrong to call it an "unsolicited kiss" because that happens to be exactly what it was.

I don't think Horan's comment about American soccer fans being "not smart" were inaccurate. Just not the smartest thing to say.

And of course she thought she was so smart she chose to skip college.

And of course she thought she was so smart she chose to skip college. It was definitely smart for her to skip college, given her professional goals.

Anyway, while I'm here, it looks like the USWNT hired a new manager. Not only did they not hire Sarina Wiegman, she signed a contract extension with England through 2027. This is expected because she already has a better job. I believe I had that. I do like the hire of Emma Hayes, though. She doesn't have international coaching experience, but she's had a ton of success at Chelsea. I think this is as good as the USWNT could reasonably get.

Pro athletes who are good enough probably should skip college when they are 18. They can always go to college later, if they want. The exception might be if they think the only way they can get into college is by being a recruited athlete.

Complaining about fans is bush league. She's a millionaire because of her celebrity. If it's not worth it, there's a very easy way to leave the spotlight.
