Love my Ducks, but Colyer being 1st team this year is..well, a choice for sure. Her and Frances are definitely questionable choices. One should of been shields for sure Other maybe Ndiaye? But regardless, Shields 10000 thousand percent should be there Agreed. Very questionable selections.

Fields, now I love you girl but let’s not be too delulu. Now there’s no denying she’s probably the best attacker in the nation but that’s not the only aspect to the game miss girl. I see the IG comment section getting very crazzzyy now lol Kipp had a better overall year and so she deserves POY. Of the award was best attacker of the Year… we gone go head and hand that Fields.

I totally see why some conferences have OPOY of the year awards lol, because people keep synonymizing POY with just offensive prowess. Like you don’t see Magda complaining even though she’s out here setting NCAA block records

I saw that too. I didn’t like that at all. No disrespect to Fields - but the POY isn’t just about kills and points.

I see from today's Volleyballk Mag post that Fields is the only one of the top 5 in KPS who is in the tournament.

Why are we still talking about Fields vs. Kipp when it's Levinska. Levinska is hitting the same % on MORE swings than Kipp. (obviously that leads to more kills). Plus, Stanford's offensive options outside of Kipp are better....

How does ASU get Georgia and USC get UMBC? #CommitteeMath USC has really got some fortunate draws when they are an unseeded team (though often tough draws in R2 as a seeded team historically) 2014: Coastal Carolina R1 match. They could have easily beaten UNC in round 2 but couldn't finish sets. 2019: Stephen F. Austin R1 Match. 2022: High Point R1 match 2023: UMBC R1 Match. It's always USC flying in, playing a drive-in mid-major team that could easily be playing a 1st round host instead.

Not as much KPS as Fields, not as much %, blocks, aces as Kipp. Her team did better than Fields's team, but not as well as Kipp's team. Etc. Almost any argument that can be made for Levinska can be made better for Fields or Kipp (but not for Fields AND Kipp).

Levinska’s KPS are barely below Fields, while her Hit % is barely below Kipp. If you weighted them evenly, Levinska is the best of the 3. Kipp’s KPS is a pretty big difference from the two.

She is set far less than the other two. This certainly has to do with Stanford also having Baird and Rubin as options. Attempts/set: Fields 12.1, Levinska 11.2, Kipp 9.6 I mean, sure, one can argue that this devalues her hitting percentage compared to a bail-out OH, like it does for a middle. But she simply beats Levinska in every stat that is not dependent on how often you get set. (I guess I'll note that while Kipp does beat the other other two in digs/s, it's not by any significant amount. All three are just over 2 digs/set.) Anyway, the coaches gave it to Kipp last year even though Fields had better numbers last year, so I was certain they were going to give it to Kipp again this year too. I think Levinska was probably #2, but we'll never know for sure because the PAC doesn't release the vote totals. Except for the rare ties, we never know how close the votes are.

One thing that is different is that Fields is a passer and the other two are not. Fields had 126 receptions (and 12 RE), while Kipp had exactly one reception and Levinska had 0.
But compare to, for instance, Vernon of OSU, who had 729 receptions! (And only 37 RE.) That is by far the most of any of the KPS leaders in the conference. (Vernon is #5 in KPS for the PAC-12 this year.) Vernon not being on the All-conference team seems like an oversight to me.
(I bet if there is a PAC-2 all-conference team next year, Vernon will be on it! If she stays at OSU, of course. Vernon is listed as a senior but she should still have a COVID year remaining, if she wants it.)

I applaud those of you who can do this in a more objective, unbiased way. I can't (or at least, I don't want to), so for me, it's Kipp, but also Levinska and Fields are amazing and I hope they both tear it up in the tournament.
Anyway, my All-Pac starting team:
S: Miner OHs: Fields (DS.... someone. Cyr? Murphy?); Rubin MBs: Magda, McGhee Opp: Kipp L: Oglivie
Coach: Greeny
