This is my first time watching Saint Mary's this season and they look pretty decent.

Pepperdine was swept by Oregon -21, -16, -17, hitting .125 for the match, led by Chillingworth's 16 kills. No one else with more than 6 kills.
Portland lost in 4...the sets they lost were -11, -13, -15, and they hit .115 for the match, led by Taina KAAUWAI's 10 kills at .300
LMU is down 1-2 to USU and tied at 14 in the fourth. Edit: Came back to take the fourth 25-18 and headed to 5...
Pacific just went up 2-0 on Eastern Washington with a 26-24 come from behind second set win. And an easy third set win for the sweep.
Saint Mary's is tied 1-1 with Portland State, but have cruised to an 18-7 lead in the third set...and now they are up 2-1...and after a very close fourth set, they pull out a 26-24 set win for the 3-1 win to remain unbeaten.
SMC is led by offensive POW Kjersti Strong 16/3/32 and Genevieve Bane 16/6/34. The team hit .295

Oof. LMU got aced to lose it, 13-15 in the 5th to Utah State. That was a dramatic match overall, with multiple challenges and crazy lead changes. I thought LMU was in control of the fifth set...right up until they weren't! Amethyst Harper had 16 kills - no errors until tallying 3 in the fifth set. (Utah State only hit .050 in that last set...and still won.)

San Diego had an abysmal first set loss to Boston College, and then pulled themselves back into respectability with the next three sets to earn their first win of the season, and give a glimpse of the talented squad they can be. MB Blackwell led all hitters with 16 kills hitting .297. Pries had 14 kills and Stivrins had 12 kills.
(Jen Petrie's daughter, Jane, finished with 12 assists and 5 digs for BC, plus a service ace that clinched the first set for BC.)
BC ended up out blocking USD 12-10. USD hit .231 for the match and BC hit .112
Meanwhile, Gonzaga is tied at 1-1 with UC San Diego, but trailing in the third set, and I'm out.
*Edit: Gonzaga lost 1-3 and hit .088 🥴 led by Thiros' 12 kills.

So Kjersti Strong got Offensive POW in week one and Defensive POW in week 2. Very impressive. I saw some brief snatches of SMC playing a few days ago, and her arm swing is lethal.

Saint Mary's got the 3-1 win over Sac State to move to 6-0 on the season. Final point by Kjersti Strong, who went 17/2/25 (.600) with 6 blocks. (Strong is a 6'4" MB who transferred to SMC from Snow College JC after two years and is now a senior.)
She had 2.10 kills/set in 2022 while hitting .291 and had .91 blocks/set. So far this season, she has 3.25 kills/set while hitting .398 and has 1.5 blocks/set. (She had over 4 kills/set today, so those numbers will go up.) Great find by Coach Browning.

Santa Clara picked up a 3-0 sweep of Princeton at Princeton today to move to 6-1.
WCC record is now 27-25, with Saint Mary's (6-0), Santa Clara (6-1) and Pacific (4-2) the only teams over .500.

Saint Mary's vs Cal tonight...battle of the unbeaten teams. SMC played poorly in the first two sets (losing set two 25-9!) but fought hard in the next two sets. They ultimately lost 1-3 to move to 6-1 on the season.
