Never underestimate a Minnesota team's ability to underperform. This could be a sweep...for either side.

A grudging two claps, like most other visiting players get. No chance. The student section will be rowdy but I expect the rest of the Pav will give her a very warm welcome. Really? I wonder how they would have welcomed Booth back this past weekend if Minnesota and Wisconsin played. There was a lot of anger expressed against her, including from her teamates.

A Wenaas welcome is guaranteed to be warmer than a Booth one will be, for a variety of reasons.

I wonder how they would have welcomed Booth back this past weekend if Minnesota and Wisconsin played. There was a lot of anger expressed against her, including from her teamates. The two left under very different circumstances. Booth went to a rival team (and was likely poached). Wenaas went back home, different conference, because she didn't (and wouldn't) get to play her primary position. From her teammates is a completely different story. While I don't know enough to speak knowledgeably, I have heard from several sources that Carter never fit in all that well, whereas most of the team loved Jenna. Of course, most fans don't know this so it comes down to the first thing. Also, keep in mind that volleyball fans are typically way less hostile than other sports.

I don't want to speak for gopher fandom as a whole, but I think most understand her situation and reason for transferring. I think Wenaas will get some decent applause from the fans at the game tonight. Booth, on the other hand? Given her circumstances for leaving (And let's not forget the comment she made after the transfer about wanting to compete for a national championship), I wouldn't be surprised if she gets booed when Wisconsin comes to play the Gophers. Speaking of, oddly enough, after having home and away games in the Gopher/Badger series forever, this year Wisconsin does not come to Minnesota to play the Gophers in the regular season. This is clearly a coincidence.

Hard to evaluate anything unless O’Neil plays…and even if she does how can she be 100%? And the freshman setter. ..
Two months from now Swindle will be a different, probably a much better setter, and O’Neil will probably be playing at the level she was with the national team a month ago. The biggest problems for Texas are filling the offensive vacuum left by Eggleston, the safety blanket Fleck provided for the defense and not losing matches like this that will lose the a chance to host a regional.. I don’t see Akana offering much help other than her serve, but Halter is good and we’ll see if she can be elite.
I’d say if Minnesota doesn’t win, that’s a huge problem for them.

A little early for a “must win”… didn’t you know everything has to be figured out in the first two weeks?

I’d say if Minnesota doesn’t win, that’s a huge problem for them. “Huge problem”… seems quite dramatic to me. Of course they should be expected to win this one, but any singular match (especially) in the first 2 weeks of the season does not have major implications for what a team can be capable of come December. You know that. Remember how everyone thought the sky was falling for Pitt after their 3-1 loss at home to Towson last year? The season worked out just fine for them and then some.

Going into this match, I am honestly unsure which team will win. I think either of them can, so that will make this match even more exciting!

Watching warm-ups. Traffic was a b*tch which might explain slow fill. Students just boo-ed the TX team as they came in.
