tbh Canada looked much worse than I expected…. They are a lot better than they showed today.. I’ve never seen them look so disorganized and frantic They simply weren't in the game and Serbia had their number. Canada still has a lot to learn if it wants to play with the top dogs. canada is just a small country.
There's no pro VB, so everyone who plays goes to university, like the USA. And unlike the USA, we have like 10 schools worth going to. Some are barely worth it.
(I do realize that serbia is smaller, but that is not the point because sports culture is so much different...)

at 0-2 21-24... the match is 80% gone even if it was Canada being up against Serbia.

Hockey (and to a lesser extent lacrosse) dominates team sports to such a degree in Canada that other team sports barely gets any breathing room...well except for the Canadian women soccer...and maybe also their basketball teams, those aren't bad at all, come to think. |

is it even possible to get the energy up against Canada unless if you want to murder them and limit them to single-digits in a set to prove a point? tbh Canada looked much worse than I expected…. I can tell they were making stupid errors because they would take the ball away from someone else in a better position to pass. KVR played a little desperate at times and I didn't think King played any defence after the first set. Jost is just so inexperienced but she will get better. They couldn't get anything going at all. None of the hitters got in any rhythm. I totally disagree with you all who say that Serbia had low energy. They got up for this match because they wanted to beat them after losing to them at the VNL (and Turkey lost to Canada at the VNL when Guidetti was coaching them). They didn't take Canada lightly (well, until they were up two sets).  But, hey, I guess to you all "Canada sucks" so, it won't make any difference. Canada's weaknesses get exposed and Winzer isn't capable of, well anything. Now who wants to say that maybe Winzer isn't that bad? People, she is awful. Other teams have their game plan for Canada, but they have no real coaching...they haven't made any changes, it's just go out there and "play hard". |

I’m glad I missed most of this match. Did Winzer ride Howe again, and if so, how did she perform?

I get the sense that because Canada pulled off an upset win over Serbia in the VNL, the expectation is that the game would be more competitive than what we got. So I get why there is a feeling of "shocking disappointment" at the blow out loss suffered by Canada. But here's the thing, when you have the likes of Boskovic and Maja on their A game, Canada never stood a chance. This is the Olympic Qualification tournament, when a ticket to Paris is up for grabs, Serbia is not going to mess around. They are going to come out with all guns blazing. They will hold nothing back. The curious thing is why Winzer would have thought otherwise. She seem to think this can be repeat of that VNL match. But this is not the VNL. She should have anticipated this. But she clearly did not. I guess in that sense Winzer is still very much an "amateur" compared to the far more accomplished and experienced Guidetti. |

Did Winzer ride Howe again, and if so, how did she perform? yea, Howe played the whole match except for a couple times where she was pulled at the end of set 3 for Savard on serve-receive. She did alright on offence. She was targeted as much on serve-receive as they targeted Gray (who for the most part did okay), and Maglio in the middle on short serves (who did well). Guidetti knows Maglio from the Turkish League and doesn't realize that King doesn't set her. lol |

Okay like how is that not in the scouting report. Maja does that all the time and Canada isn’t even in the same zip code Scouting report? lol Winzer doesn't have scouting reports... seriously, I think she took most of the summer off while other teams were preparing their reports, she was taking time "off". |

DOM gave up an early lead, went back and forth til 17’s and then put the clamp down, winning the last 7-8 points or so and taking the 1st set 25-17.
