FIVB likes to intentionally put marquee matches at the end. . This. This is what I complained about before the tournament started. They have a very specific way of scheduling matches. My thing is - it's LESS exciting if Serbia/China are both qualified by the time the last match takes place. Like, who cares about winning at that point? They're both going to the Olympics. Why should Boskovic take 80 swings in a 5-setter that doesn't matter? Why can't Serbia play China in the middle of the tournament? Like, if that was the next match, that would be super dramatic given China's loss to Canada. If China beat Serbia in that instance, it's mass chaos. Not even if they BOTH qualify, if Serbia clinches their berth with one or two matches left, they will have basically nothing to play for in their last matches. So China will have everything to play for while Serbia has nothing. HUGE advantage for China. |

China could lose to Canada, Dominican Republic, and Netherlands (all at home) ... and still qualify for the Olympics via World Ranking and watch one of those teams get left out. Ouch.

They might need to do classification matches in order for me to support it. Because if what I'm seeing is that USA+5 continental champions don't count in the 3 for 2027 WCh. Which, could mean it's like the #5-#7 ranked teams at the World Championsihp that earn bids. That could be... problematic if there are no classification matches and they just rank it off preliminary/pool results. |

- host - 5 continental champions (2027)
- 4 from World Championships (2027) - 2 from VNL (2028).
Anything that's duplicated, take top-ranked teams that aren't otherwise qualified.
(you can see that from my idea ranking is only used as a very last resort)

better to have - host - 5 continental champions (2027)
- 4 from World Championships (2027) - 2 from VNL (2028).
Anything that's duplicated, take top-ranked teams that aren't otherwise qualified.

I think VNL 2028 should be full round robin in this proposal. Germany (2023) got a huge break from the schedule. |
