So I have a stupid question--why are the all the Democrats unanimously voting to remove him? Yes I get he's a republican but the alternative isn't guaranteed to be better and McCarthy is more likely to work with Democrats than the Freedom Caucus or whatever? Why are they wasting time with dysfunction when there's work to be done? I could venture to say if McCarthy wouldn’t have started the sham of an impeachment inquiry and not tried to cast blame on the Democrats for the almost government shut down he may have gotten some Democrat support.

I noticed Pelosi did not vote. Not sure if that was intentional, or if she's not physically present. I think she has been advocating to let the Republicans burn on their own. She's still in San Francisco. Dianne Feinstein's body will by lying in state at San Francisco City Hall and Pelosi plans on being there for the public memorial on Thursday. I think Pelosi might have been invited to the funeral, even though public info says that it's family only. I knew she had flown to CA with the body, but I saw her being interviewed in the last day or two and thought she was back in DC.

I hereby nominate Merle Haggard to be Speaker of the House Isn't he dead? A mere technicality. Still, if the Bakersfield Sound is the criteria for electing a Speaker, I nominate the very much alive Dwight Yoakum.

Why are they wasting time with dysfunction when there's work to be done? McCarthy has not been willing to work with the Democrats for the last 9 months. He has back-tracked on any deals he made with them. He has bowed to far-right Trumpist pressure every single time he's been pushed on it until literally the last moment before a government shutdown that would have been devastating for the GOP politicly. There is absolutely no way that he is "more likely to work with Democrats" than any possible replacement. If anything, this is a warning message to future majority Speakers that if they are too harsh and uncompromising with the minority, they may lose their jobs.
