There's a difference between hitting .207 (TTA's season hitting % before this match) and hitting negative -.100+ lmao from the right. Smrek is a .400 hitter from the right. Smrek wouldn't let Hannah hit .400+ either but let's not count that either. Not to mention, losing Anna means we're shuffling THREE positions. Losing Krause means you're shuffling one. There's no comparisons. You wouldn’t have to do all that shuffling if maybe y’all went after a 6 rotation setter and not another pin We did go after Podraza this summer, but she chose Penn St. We also tried to get Swindle from this past class, but she went to Texas instead (though watching how Texas is doing this year, I’m not sure if we would actually be better).

No excuses. Wisconsin had an off night and lost to the 19th ranked team. They didn't lose to an unranked Kansas State or an unranked USC team. Despite losing 3-1, this match was very close. Set 2, Wisconsin fought off 10 set points! If they win that set, maybe Penn State cracks a little, who knows.
Sheff will look at this loss and the team will get better from it. Penn State did some things really well, like stop Booth. And their right side kept going cross court and lighting up GG, I am not sure why we didn't adjust to stop that.
The biggest disappointment from this loss is we no longer have a realistic shot at the Big Ten Championship.

There's more to playing front row than kill numbers. Smrek's replacement defending against Penn State's lefts was TTA. While Orzol got 4 blocks on the left side. Great stuff for a libero. Lol. The Libero? Wasn’t She thee hitter until you brought in Temi ? Julia. Then goes to Libero because GG wasn’t good enough. Am I missing something?

Where are Ashburn and Hammill in the B1G rankings just wondering Pretty far down, as they each only play three rotations. That means their percent numbers are half of what any other 5-1 setter would be. It's hard to compare them apples to apples because they are in a 6-2.

A player out is an excuse. Everyone deals with injuries, flu……. Wisconsin is a better team than PSU even without Smrek. They didn’t play great on the road vs a good team who is playing really well. That’s a joke!! Playing well lately…do you watch this volleyball stuff? They had the #1 ranked team down 2-0 and just beat the # 2 team. So yes, they’re playing well.

We weren't the same team without a first team all big ten right side, a new libero who was benched for a player who'd never playing libero. 🤷♂️

Penn State doing Penn State things playing tough at home! KSC is getting her team in prime playing shape just in time for the tourney. Don’t know how deep they’ll go playing away from home but they’ll be a scary team to play. Congrats PSU!

Congrats to Cam Hannah on a solid night at OH for PSU!
Knowing JMruzik was down seemed a good motivator for others on attack. I know. I know. Smrek. Teams play the players across the net, no matter who the coach puts in the lineup. The players jobs are to compete. PSU played a solid match. Looking for this kind of mental and volleyball consistency these last few matches of the season. If KSC can get Zoe to stay on the +++ side on attack as well, PSU can give teams all they can handle. Serving and defense are looking good.

I hope all you non-Badgers fans got your money’s worth last night.
I’m not gonna make excuses. We stunk up the place. IDK what it is about playing in Rec Hall that makes our players completely forget how to play volleyball. Maybe we need to start wearing tinfoil helmets during serve & pass to keep the mind-numbing rays out or something. But Penn State was clearly the better team. They served us off the court, dug up everything, and hit like our block didn’t even exist. It was something to watch.

They played the best available players they had, like everyone does, and got outplayed. Everyone has injuries, it’s not just a part of team sports, it’s a significant part.

Some growing pains with it but it definitely adds firepower to a team that needed fire power. Zoe also seems to be dealing with the inside and off sets to the right side better than Hannah. The set would make me think Mac had been setting a lefty RS her career which is not the case. They need to work on getting the right side sets to Zoe’s right side of her body. Or Zoe needs to step into the court but I think she would get blocked more. Hopefully PSU gets to host the first 2. If they don’t host will they be sent to University of Pennsylvania automatically because if travel?

Because a 6-2 setter always has three front row attackers, while a 5-1 setter only has two half the time. And the 6-2 setter never dump-attacks on second touch. Both will mean the 6-2 should have some amount of increase assists per set, etc.
