In case anyone didn't notice, lotstodo2023 started up a 2024 transfer portal tea thread for us!
We can't be corralled. There will be crossover. And complaining. Lots and lots of complaining.

For sure, patience thresholds will be tested.

Action about to heat up with the portal opening today. (Bump/Participate) Keep in mind all the players from head turning teams are still playing. Most likely most of the big name changes won’t happen until after next weekend and beyond.

Keep in mind they are also there for school - it doesn’t take one long to know if they want to spend three more years at their university; athlete or not. (Also, let’s keep things real - it’s Morgantown, West Virginia…) WF, not WV LOL Wake Forest is in North Carolina And West Virginia is in Western Virginia. 😎

Tea from Washington thread is that Emoni Bush is going into the portal. Very impactful 3-rotation pin, coming off a redshirt injury year. I wonder if any players from Washington, Oregon, USC, and UCLA will hit the portal simply because they don’t want the cross-country slog that will be life in the New Big Ten. This is not actually a thing they care about. This is just a volleytalk issue.

Travel fatigue is a real thing; it wasn’t invented by VT, but it’s flattering how much credit as you want to give us.

Eh idk, I think tacking on a few extra hours a weekend to flights they were already making every season just won’t be as big of an impact as many think it’s going to be. Especially for the athletes that use the time to get caught up on school work, which will make their lives a lot easier when they return.

Oregon will likely travel less next year cumulatively, but we also went on a crazy 4-week road bender to start the season. Like, going to Hawaii is longer than any B1G road trip.

This is not actually a thing they care about. This is just a volleytalk issue. Early this year, recent grad Maryland MB Rainelle Jones was doing 'analyst' duties on BTN for B1G matches. The play-by-play guy asked her what she thought about the expansion to the West Coast etc., and she said "I'm glad I'm not gonna have to make those planes rides."

Preseason road trips are not as taxing on the athletes since school has not started. The regular season is where the travel takes away from the academic side of the equation.

That's what she said.

This is not actually a thing they care about. This is just a volleytalk issue. Right, no athletes care about this, except for the ones on social media who say they care about it, and the ones who don’t want to gripe publicly, but tell their club coaches and recruiting advisors they are thinking about it, and the lack of a straight answer on what the new schedules and travel arrangements will look like… But when the coaches repeat those concerns on here, it absolutely has nothing to do with the athletes!
