It seems like ages ago that I got to see Whitney play. I do remember she had a heck of a serve though. She served three aces in a row in the scrimmage. She hits her jump float from such a high contact point it’s tough to track. One thing Texas taught me last year: serving wins championships 😂

I'm actually not too worried about the Jenna/Whitney competition as I feel like I'm more worried/concerned about who's going to replace Barnes in the back row. It took her a few games to get it together, but she was such a lock in the back row, both from a passing and defending perspective. Whoever plays in the back row needs to be on the same level.

I personally think it should be Ramirez. She’s so underrated and overlooked. I’m so glad she played amazing at the exhibition.

Jenna and Whitney are fighting for the outside spot AND the backrow rotations potentially attached to it, but Emerick and Ramirez are also fighting for the backrow rotations😭 i was more impressed with Ramirez than Emerick in the scrimmage, but it was a scrimmage and Emerick was the one that got the nod in set 5 as libero. I kinda feel like it’s either gonna be Jenna 6ro or Whitney 3.5 with Ramirez?? who knows. whitney held up in serve receive just as well as jenna in the small sample size

Curious what the fans think - will Jenna lose her spot? And if so, will it be to Whitney? Byrd? I think she needs to really step up if she wants to stay on the floor based on the scrimmage alone. And I’m sure this has been discussed many times on this thread, but that’s a lot of pages for me to sort through 😂 Jenna is the incumbent and will be hard to displace early season, but scrimmage (and practice from what I’ve #heard) has showed Whitney has the potential to be pretty dynamic. there was a tiktok posted the other day too with what was clearly the A team on one side (Madi, Halter, Rutherford serving, Carlson, Akana, etc) and whitney was the outside on that squad (but she was front row at the time and Akana was off) so I wonder if they’re playing around with: Skinner/Whitney (DS Akana) Mari/Ames Carlson/Rutherford (6ro) Halter but we didn’t really let Reagan play 6ro in the scrimmage so that would be a little weird Problem I see with this lineup(and I get none are perfect) but it makes it so Whitney and Akana can’t both serve and they’re known as two of the best on the team.

I knowwww I was thinking the same thing and why I’d prefer either letting Whitney go 6 or have Ramirez/Emerick play 2.5 but I’m sure they’re giving all of Reagan, Jenna, and Whitney a shot at 6ro in practice ofc

i'm wondering if je will eventually try whitney on the front row & have her serve & then jenna comes in & plays backrow
i think we will see both setters play a bit this season...i think swindle starts against wisconsin (she's aggressive & has a really nice block)

With the assumption that Skinner never leaves the court, if you were forced to play one of Rutherford, Lauenstein, or Wenaas all 6-rotations, who would be the best option based on not just their front row attacking/blocking, but their responsibilities within the offense and defense, and serving.

Jenna had three blocks in the Natty that live rent free in my head: Jackson, Beason, Beason. found this clip from her frosh year (next to Kayla!). That post-block celebration look+howl at 0:21 lol
