I’m very impatient when it comes to development, I’m just not sure why Madi isn’t having us on her back while we figure everything out. She’s kinda turned into something that needs figured out. She will be fine I’m just not sure why this is happening Did you even watch the match last night? Madi had 14 kills with only 4 errors and hit .417. That's nearly 5 kills per set. Not good enough for you? Big improvement from her most recent matches. not specifically last night, but also her back row play wasn’t the best. If anything I'm saying last night is what she should have been doing in attacking.

Mari starting to bring it on as it relates to blocking. I'm confident Ames will get there as she's still getting the speed of the college down.

(I’ll probably look more into that when I get off) and well her backrow play seems to be digressing but I think that’ll kick back up when she settles front row

It’s not a hate thing by any means, she’s my favorite player maybe ever and if the team should adjust to anybody it should probably be her…

i just finished watching as well. anybody notice the odd body language of Whit after she got subbed out of the 6-2 and JE pulled her aside in the middle of set 3? i felt like after they had a talk, she didn't really celebrate much and played with her fingers like she was nervously overthinking. i even saw her whispering with Akana. i know i'm weird for recognizing it, but i read body language well and it jumped out to me She asked Akana what school should she transfer to next season cuz this aint it Whit could very well be our biggest producer next year.

After the second set, one of the TV analysts asked Jerritt how they planned to use Akana as she had come in late that second set to serve for Skinner. He made it sound like the only option would be late in a set because otherwise they'd run out of subs. Is that accurate? The 6-2 does use up subs at a faster rate, but I've seen teams use it and DS for one of the outsides and rarely run out of subs. I do wonder if Elliott was being a bit cautious about the subs since this was the first time we ran the 6-2.

Madi has literally started every season slow. The last two at Texas and the first two at Kentucky. It's how she does

People are looking around at what other high end players are doing, when as fans our focus should be on our side of the net. This is how it’s been in regards to Madi for a couple years, but she’ll find her next gear. She might have already found it TBH, cause that stat line last night was tournament Madi.

The 6-2 does use up subs at a faster rate, but I've seen teams use it and DS for one of the outsides and rarely run out of subs. That's what I thought. When Nebraska ran the 2-setter offense in 2022, they had Knuckles DS'ing almost the entire set. As posted above, Wisconsin also ran 6-2 last year and used a DS for one of the OH. Checking the box score of the semifinals match, the first set was 25-22 Texas and Wisconsin used 14 subs if I counted correctly. So as I thought, a close match with both teams siding out at a fairly high rate will get you close to running out of subs with a 6-2 and one DS. So it appears one strategy is like Wisconsin's (I assume) which is to start the match using the DS and then "deal with it" if you run out of subs. Another is likely what Elliott did last night which is start the match with no DS and have more subs left toward the end of a close match which gives you more sub flexibility toward the end.

Didn’t she hit the first rotation front row to save one sub? yeah I think so lol like the half rotation if they weren’t serving but she’d start serving if Nebraska served first I think we could do something kinda similar if we don’t start with serve and have carlson front row and Rutherford back row for a half rotation (or Swindle front row, Devin back row, but I like Rutherford’s back row offense more for a side out and I’d rather start with carlson + her serve).
