I agree with your assessment: for sure. Not better blocker than Madi: but i would say that Fishers blocking scheme’s are better executed at this moment than JE’s. One team plAying with chip and one team playing with we are the world. Easier when you are the chip team: but lots of time to develop: When you have athlete’s texas has they only have to be great for 6 matches depending on seeds: last year texas has to thank Tennessee for not being able to finish so we could see Texas at there best. Will be watching for the moment they get to high gear. Just dont be to wishy washy with plan for to long! 6 weeks with one plan: so plenty time to experiment. Hope bevo fans allow some ug while they develop texas doesn't have to thank anyone for what happened last year, they grinded those wins out on their own. Oh please: tennessee fans might have a dif. Opinion here! that match was down to 50/50: and yes texas executed but it show’s how in tourney scraping by gets you too a place where your gifts can be witnessed!

Unfortunately I can't make this match tomorrow night, I have a solo chairback ticket/ parking pass/ PointTexas pass - free to any Texas(!) fan who will promise to be there and be LOUD. If you're interested message me

Actually the odds may have been a bit in Texas' favor when Tennessee was serving at 24-23 match point. Texas had the rotation with Skinner, O'Neal, and Phillips on the front row. I'm thinking analytics would say the odds significantly favored Texas on that point. Then Akana was serving with Skinner and O'Neal still on the front row. I wouldn't be surprised if analytics stiil slightly favored Texas while Akana was serving. In other words, if Texas could have selected the rotations to be on the floor at that time, I feel certain those would have been the ones chosen.

i'm sorry, but Madi is so opposite-coded... the few rotations she played there last night, i vote she goes the Matt Anderson route and plays OH professionally and OPP on the national team 😁

Anyone know why Jordyn Byrd wasn't on the sidelines last night?

I didn't see Ramirez on the sidelines either but she's so tiny she might have just been standing behind someone.

I think you’re only allowed to travel like 18 for conference matches or something like that so maybe we’re just starting that early… weird that it’d be Byrd and Ramirez though

She had 17 attacks. Some of her out of bounds hits were her best swings. I'll have to go back and watch the replay, but I felt she got around 10 good swings tonight based on good sets. She has some great kills down the stretch. oh she was awesome. I just feel like she having to tip 24/7. the only full swings I really remember are the one she dropped on the 10 foot line sharp cross court and then the one you alluded to that she hit wide. if you watch the replay before it’s up on VolleyMetrics, let me know if I was just dreaming lol, I did miss a good bit of the first set Got a chance to watch the first set. Of Rutherford's three kills, 2 of them were good sets that allowed her great swings.

Back in 2017 the conference travel squad limit was 15 (I think) and our roster was 1 or 2 players over that. Butler was redshirting and I noticed at least one or two road games where she wasn't on the sidelines. Kinda watched this the rest of the conference season and it seemed like they rotated who traveled among Brionne and the walk-ons. I always thought there wasn't a travel squad limit for non-conference games, but maybe there is. For the Texas-Michigan football game, it appeared we didn't travel the whole team. The limit could be a school limit too though doesn't seem like they would limit it for a bus trip to Waco. Edit (added) - Found a couple of shots of the entire bench during the game. Appears there were just 11 players on the bench making 17 at the game. Roster is 20 so it seems we had some sort of travel squad limit.

Posted this late on the match thread (Texas:Stanford), but it seems to be abandoned.
It was cool to see Whitney play, and do reasonably well. Was she playing instead of Rutherford on the OPP?
