NW just parted ways with Shane Davis. Maybe we can snag their big OH , Sangiacomo. No transfer issues with a coaching change. Prob has the grades to get into U of I. I thought Sangiacomo is a grad student and is done with her eligibility. Correct, she is done.

If players start departing Northwestern, what about an Averie Hernandez transfer? She’s from Bloomington.

Sad to see her riding the bench - don’t see her getting much playing time anytime soon with Chicoine and Hudson starting.

Wollard had to know what she was getting into. Hudson was the B1G freshman of the year the year before; two freshmen, Chicoine the #1 recruit nationally, Heaney a left handed opposite ranked #14 in the country, aren’t going anywhere. Did we not recruit Woolard, or did she just want to get away from Champaign?

I believe Barry played club volleyball with Hernandez. It would be great it she could convince Hernandez to transfer to Illinois.

Hudson was committed to ND and Chicoine to Penn St. They both changed their commitments well after and then came the rest. Wollard was aggressively pursued by Shondell and several other BIGs. I remember seeing them at the courts watching her and Barry at several major tourneys. Illinois was definitely in the mix at the time but they are/were more height oriented and Purdue is not. I know people close to Wollard and she is just a quality individual and player trying to make the best of her situation. I doubt she will be happy being a backup for the rest of her college career.

If that is the case, Tamas somehow needs to let her know she would be welcome at Illinois As evidenced by his most recent OH recruits he is not as enamored with height as he once was. She would be a perfect fit next year. At the very least, this board would rejoice at news she might come back to Illinois.

I have been a huge fan of Illini vball for years and know Illini Elite well. Teams were built around Hernandez, Wollard and Kerr. Kerr and Hernandez are coming into their own. Not foreseeing Wollard will get enough of a chance at Purdue. I think Tamas dropped the ball in IL. Actually with recruiting in general. I've been following this for awhile and plan to weigh in now and then. Hoping things improve in several areas of Illini vball so we can trend upwards in our increasingly tough conference.

Just wanted to chime in to thank and welcome our newer Illinois fan VTers to the conversation! There's been a nice influx of folks participating this past year and I think I speak for us long-timers, in saying we're glad to have you here.

Sadly I'm not sure its reciprocated. Things can change though, stay tuned.

Two other things I've seen that I'd thought I would put my two cents in for...I'd expect at least 1 current player on our roster to transfer out & I'd be very surprised if Lauenstein is interested in Illinois. Very unlikely. Portal should be exploding soon, will be exciting to monitor.

I think you are dropping some tea right there. Barry needs to message Willard and tell her to come to ILL. With both of her parents former ILL athletes, should be a slam dunk!
