Two other things I've seen that I'd thought I would put my two cents in for...I'd expect at least 1 current player on our roster to transfer out & I'd be very surprised if Lauenstein is interested in Illinois. Very unlikely. Portal should be exploding soon, will be exciting to monitor. Oh, now that’s some real tea! Shall we start guessing?? 1st guess is Stephenson, not sure who the second would be, maybe Bingham?? I think Launstein might like the family atmosphere Tamas has fostered plus a good shot at starting and playing 6 rotations.

Hard for a coach to honestly tell someone he recruited they are unlikely to ever see the court on a meaningful level, but it has to be done. There are two scholarship players I don't believe will ever contribute. With only twelve scholarships, two non-contributors is not sustainable. Hopefully, Tamas can and will help find other opportunities that will enable the two of whom I am thinking find a school where they can see the court.

Just wanted to chime in to thank and welcome our newer Illinois fan VTers to the conversation! There's been a nice influx of folks participating this past year and I think I speak for us long-timers, in saying we're glad to have you here. Thank ya!! IL has such a great fan base that wants to see this team do BIG things!

Are we thinking along the same lines? Probably. Compare Ashley Philpot's recruiting videos with Dean's. I suppose it is possible Dean's redshirt year resulted in real progress. Bingham contributes at two different positions and was reasonably effective when she was given the opportunity to play last year. Losing Bingham would hurt, hopefully she is not the person inpaign is referring to.

Seems like Bohm takes the 1st MB spot. The 2nd MB needs to be able to run a slide. I know Bingham can, sounds like Philipot can. What about Dean?

NW just parted ways with Shane Davis. Maybe we can snag their big OH , Sangiacomo. No transfer issues with a coaching change. Prob has the grades to get into U of I. I thought Sangiacomo is a grad student and is done with her eligibility. That is correct

Great minds think alike; I wondered this as well. Not sure how much playing time Kenna Willard saw at Purdue, but she’d be another good one. Thought the same thing. Sad to see her riding the bench - don’t see her getting much playing time anytime soon with Chicoine and Hudson starting. I read a good article about Wollard actually committing to Purdue before Hudson or Chicoine even did. I thought that Wollard would be transferring for sure…but after Heaney injured her ankle…Wollard has been starting. Hopefully she is happy at Purdue

Still don't understand the logic of not considering Assembly Hall as a venue for home games. The men's and women's basketball teams have their own practice facilities separate for AH. They don't practice at the Hall. They don't play home games in August or September and almost all of October. The wrestling team has home matches at Assembly Hall - in October. Is Tamas against it? Is Josh Whitman against it? Thoughts?

I just took it as an acknowledgement/celebration of our current Chicago suburbs Illini. This suburbs Illinois alum welcomes the enthusiasm : )
Correct - just a shout out to Chi-town/club girls - Thanks for the support exit237a!

I was there when we played #1 Hawaii in the Assembly Hall with (supposedly) 1500 people in the stands and it was like a morgue. Despite giving away seats via radio promotions and local grocery stores, it was a sad event losing 15-3, 15-3, 15-2 and being over in under an hour.

Can some of my fellow Illini fans shed some light on the transfer portal for me? First question, who has access to the transfer portal? Obviously student athletes who are entering the transfer portal have access, but on the other side, besides other coaches and institutions, do fans have any sort of access? I’m asking this because it seems like people have so much information on who is in the portal? Whether or not the information is true, how does word circulate if a player is in the portal? I understand some athletes may post on social media that they’ve entered the portal, but I’m thinking that every athlete post that. More curious on the process.

One of the primary advantages to the team playing in Huff is how close the fans are to the court. The noise and atmosphere in Huff provides the team with a significant home court advantage. Those advantages would be lost by moving to SFC. If the court at the SFC were located closer to the fans only one side of the arena would be available for seating. Putting the court in the middle on the basketball court would mean everyone other than those seated in folding chairs on the floor would be a significant distance from the court. The noise of 3000 fans would disappear in the SFC. I say this as a person who thinks Huff is a terrible place for fans because so many of the seats have restricted views. As bad as Huff is for the fan experience, SFC would be worse. I have suggested if Huff is too expensive to replace Huff could be renovated by rotating the court 90 degrees in which case seats could be run from courtside virtually to the ceiling without posts getting in the way of the view and seats could be configured behind each baseline, significantly increasing seating capacity. Locker rooms, exercise and training facilities would have to be upgraded, the HVAC system would have to be replaced, and something would have to be done about parking, but using the Huff structure would be considerably less expensive than building an entirely new arena.
