Illinois VB, both Tamas’, and Hendrickson are all following Vernon (OH from Oregon State) on IG. Illinois VB and Hendrickson also follow Carney (OH- Wake Forest) and Nolan (MB- UNC) oh this could be a match made in heaven. Vernon is slightly undersized but there were many matches where she put the beavs on her back and carried them. 3.57 kps and 2.54 dps will definitely make her a solid 6 ro pin for the illini

Wishing her luck in her future endeavors and school. I hope she enjoyed her time being an Illini. While I hate seeing anyone leave the team I dont know if she would have ever found playing time if that was her goal. I watched some film when she was in HS and she was not at the level as other BIG ten recruits were at. I have not watched her as an Illini but I'd imagine she was not quite ready to be a Big ten OH. I hope she finds a new school where she can make an impact.

There are a couple outsides in the portal to keep an eye on, but this is definitely one to watch for the Illini. A duo of two outsides capable of putting the team on their backs in Raina and Vernon would be a major upgrade for the Illini at the pins.

Congratulations to Raina on making the 2023 AVCA Division I Women’s Regional Award First team for the Northeast Region! This also qualifies Raina for possible All-American recognition. Well-deserved!

Against then #16, she had 17 kills and 13 digs. She also had 19 kills and 13 digs when Oregon State beat then #19 Arizona State. She would be a nice addition to the Illini roster.

Per Pasquale's recommendation, on the third post of this thread I added a version of our roster that shows us our basic 2024 depth chart by position. With Sophie Stephenson entering the transfer portal, that brings our pin depth down to the same level it was at during the 2023 offseason, a precarious four pin hitters. We can't bring back Jess Nunge again, so I'm sure hoping we get another pin hitter from the portal this offseason. I think ideally we'd get someone with multiple years of eligibility left, as we're currently projected to have only four pin hitters in 2025, too (with Raina and Kayla set to finish their college careers). Of course we'd gladly take a pin with only one year left, too.
The table below is the pasted version copied from the third post.

Agreed. My guess is that Smith will replace Burbage on the right side after next year, which would leave us in another precarious situation on the left side in 2025. Tamas will need to pick up one or two left side hitters in the portal to provide some depth at that position for a few years. Stating the obvious, but it would be great if he could recruit an impact player to Illinois next season.

She is a terminal hitter and can take over a match. I just don't think Burbage is steady enough still and some days she struggles to even but roll shots in the court. We finally have a player that is playing in the AU game, I think the last was Poulter.

I think we are going to be very excited about our two Triangle recruits.

What sort of expectations do people have for de Boer? 4 OHs is definitely thin so good to get more depth at the pins regardless but I've always been high on de Boer

Coming off a major illness like that, we don't know how much Taylor was practicing last season or at what level. Ideally, they are able to bring her along slowly.

Prince would have played but she was injured. Prince was the ESPN Freshman of the Year in HS. Would love to have seen her reach her potential and not be sidelined with all the injuries.

But with an auto-immune disorder, it's a crap shoot.
