Interesting she lists herself as an outside hitter/defensive specialist on her recruiting page. With two 6’0” outside hitters in the 2025 class and a 6’1” hitter in the 2026 class it appears Tamas has modified his focus to include more passing and defense, a modification I think will improve our play.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of intel on Madi, but her bio lists the following:
2x AAU National Champion 2022 AAU All-American 2022 & 2023 4A IHSAA State Champion 2023 USAV NTDP

i know high school/club rankings are kind of moot because what matters is how players develop once in college…but it would be nice to land a few top ranked/rated players to get the buzz going within our program again.

Welcome to the Illini family, Madi! Looking forward to having you join the team! Watching available videos of her play at OH, Madi appears to have some good power to her hitting. Also, it appears she is all-around OH.

how in this day in age with the revenue that Illinois Athletics is simply getting from TV right cant figure out a way to put an air conditioner on top of Huff and runs some vents and lines down into the ceiling - seems pretty ridiculous then you go look at the visiting team locker room I read somewhere (probably News-Gazette) that cost of installing A/C for Huff Gym was north of $10M. I believe it! They had new lighting installed last year and I couldn't believe how much was spent.

Agreed, notpriddy- looks like Madi hits a heavy ball! I also appreciate the versatility we're seeing out of all our hitters verbally committed in the 2025 and 2026 classes. Madi, Ava, and Alyssa have all been playing OH and OPP for their clubs and Gabriella gets swings from all three front row positions. Can't wait to see them all in Orange and Blue! And of course looking forward to seeing the 2024 Illini. Just renewed my season tickets again : )

What do the people who donated 10 million dollars for the project think about this development?

That's a good question. Do they get their money back? But the belt tightening has begun in the new world of college athletics. Here's a synopsis of Whitman's round table discussion with reporters from Robert Rosenthal at IlliniBoard Backwards damages. This will be $2.8 billion distributed to former athletes who could not capitalize on their name, image, and likeness. For Illinois it will remove $1.2 million every year from the NCAA distribution. Starting in FY 2026 (fall of 25) scholarship limits will be replaced by roster limits. Instead of 11.7 baseball scholarships spread across 40 players on the roster it will be up to each individual school as to how to distribute scholarships to their entire roster. Permissible revenue share with student athletes. This is based on the average revenue in 3 categories: media, sponsorships, and ticket sales. The cap is 22% of those 3 categories. The 3 categories currently add up to right around $100 million per school so that would be $22 million. Every school will have the same cap. Ohio State’s budget is much bigger but will have the same $22 million cap. It’s the average across all conferences. NIL will evolve. A new enforcement mechanism will oversee “artificial” NIL arrangements. His quote: “We will be evaluating a new paradigm not utilizing an existing structure.” Ultimately it will be up to the schools to put rules in place. The schools will have to come together to collectively move in the direction of monitoring artificial NIL funding.

With roster limits I predict club sports will become feeder systems for intercollegiate varsity sports.

They're pretty much a new tier of pro farm teams. That's too bad. Glad we were able to see collegiate athletics while it lasted.

In mid September, WKU is hosting Illinois, Dayton and Marquette. WKU and Dayton each play all 3 of the other teams. Does anyone know why Illinois isn't playing Marquette?
