the timing with Acevedo seems perfect to get these prospects even more excited about being gophers 🤞🏻 Is Acevedo staying in Minnesota and camping with them? Unless they get to see her play, I doubt this has any impact. I'd bet good money that the class of 2026/2027 in this region don't even know who she is. These girls are too young to have known Acevedo in club, and she doesn't have any youth national team exposure. Just on the fundamentals, I can't imagine that Divita is all that thrilled, considering that Kinney, Swenson, and now Acevedo will be around until 2028. So long as Nebraska passes on Hoecke, I think Gopher fans should feel solid about that one. it just seems that with Minnesota landing a big name transfer, there is a lot of buzz about this new era of gopher volleyball after a rough couple of years with McCutcheon on his way out and Cook on his way in.

More insight about Acevedo’s thought process and why she chose to be a Gopher. So she visited USD, Arizona State, Pepperdine, Baylor, MN and Wisconsin.

She speaks so highly of Keegan's culture and it sounds like it was the biggest factor. The interviewer mentions that he has heard multiple, multiple people talk about Keegan's culture over the past year. Makes me feel really good about this program. Both the interviewer and Alex speak highly of Kristin, also.

Absolutely! We all know that creating a new culture takes time and I am so happy to hear that Alex already starts to feel or see it from the coaches and players. Many many great things will come with it!

I’m not worried about losing top MN recruits to Nebraska, or anyone really. Strong history and culture, also hasn’t really happened besides Hilley, and that was because we had SSS. Sam, Wilhite, Tapps, Lohman, Goehner all had other offers and stayed.

Goehner originally was going to Marquette, switched to MN when Bond left for IA.

Both ended up here anyway, we had Shaff committed already when Orr was considering schools. My point is it’s been rare for us to have an opening at a position, and the top recruit in MN for that position go elsewhere.

This corroborates with what I’ve heard for the past several months as well. Also as another poster said, Olivia Swenson is not making any top recruit think twice when considering Minnesota for several reasons.

The Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge against Wisconsin and Minnesota will take place in Waco on Sept. 6-7, neutral-site matches between the two teams against TCU also taking place on those days.

still hoping for the schedule this week ? I *hope* for it every day. I *expect* it on Friday the 14th, or maybe Monday the 17th (it’s been on the 14th the last two years, but “Friday”? We’ll see.)
