S: Shaffmaster L1: Wucherer L2: Hanson M1: Awoleye M2: Minatee Opp: Grote L: Palabiyik DS: Thibault SS: ? McGhie or Gray ? I’m not convinced that these will be the starters in the middle or at the end of the season. Translated this very helpful post so that it's accessible to those outside the VT elitist inner circle who pretend to be on a first name basis with our Gopher athletes. I'll be providing this service periodically throughout the season, at no charge!
Stop being so snotty.

Ok so it could turn out that a player who redshirts could have to pay their own way through their last year of collegiate eligibility? Possible, but unlikely. They are able to get a scholarship for that 5th year. I don't think that the school must give a scholarship athlete a 5th year of scholarship, but I would expect that it is one of the things talked about when the coaching staff and student-athlete decide on red-shirting. This is yesterday’s thinking…starting next season everyone on the roster is on scholarship so the only question a player needs answered is “will I be in the roster?” For 25 and 26, there will likely be some uncomfortable conversations as staffs adjust to this new model.

This is *today’s* thinking, since the 12 full-only scholarship rule is still in effect. I agree, though, that it’ll change up with the (still?) *proposed* changes to VB and other sports rosters/scholarships. - Will there be 18 full scholarships as well as 18 roster slots? And, will every school (MN specifically) have the $$ for them? - If the number of scholarships doesn’t equal the number of players on roster, you still get the awkward discussions of $$ for a 5th year. - Of course, an option for the 5th year player is to go elsewhere, which puts pressure on the original school, if the athlete is good enough. - And of course, where does revenue sharing and NIL $$ fit into all this?

Loser behavior I’ll be ignoring this service continuously throughout the season, whether free or charged. And if anyone thinks I call Wookie by that nickname to her face… I wonder whether anyone here (or at the matches) yells out anything like “Great set, Ms Shaffmaster!!!” rather than referring to her as Mel.

when the psych ward closes at 9 but it’s 9:15 At one point he scoffed that the match was against Iowa State...you know, a power conference team that's been to 16 of the last 18 NCAA tournaments. That should tell you all you need to know.

Who sees the court first, Sydney or Stella? Honestly probably Sydney. I could see her getting a little time this year, especially in some of the pre-conference matches.

Who sees the court first, Sydney or Stella? Depends on which one leaves the locker room first! Probably Sydney. My guess is that she will play some this season, and I expect that Stella will redshirt.

Probably Schnichels. My guess is that she will play some this season, and I expect that Stella Swenson will redshirt. 👍

Iowa is in the Big Ten and finished with a #226 RPI. So obviously being in a "Power Conference" (a term that has nothing to do with volleyball) is meaningless in of itself. 😏 For sure, the results of the 2006 season weigh heavily on the 2024 program. Also, for sure traveling somewhere else to play a first or second round tourny match means you have a powerful program. Yep, definitely. Iowa State last five non-covid seasons (2018 included) are: didn't make it, first round, first round, second round, first round. Wish I could say it was a nice try, but it really wasn't even that. Now if we were talking Iowa State from 2007-2012, you'd have a point.

If Sydney and Olivia do not play very much the next couple of seasons I would LOVE to see them cross the river and be very good at St. Thomas.

Minnesota is also terrible. They should fire everyone for ever losing, or even thinking about losing, then fold the program. Why even have sports if you don't win every game ever? Wow, it really is fun being an absolute ass online. Why would I even bother leaving the house?
