Iowa State is terrible. ... Minnesota is also terrible. If this sentiment is a 0, and if the opposite (both are Natty bound and will exclusively make up the All-American team) is a 10. Then what I've actually said, what I actually think, and indeed the actual truth for both teams is something like a 7. I really can't fathom how what I've said so far bothers you so badly that you feel the need to lie about what I've said. Or you're just trolling me. Hopefully the latter. |

So if you are talking about mplsgopher I invited him to put up or shut up. You know on MEL 100 dollars if she makes first team 50 for second team 20 third team he gets 100 if she does not make it. she has to play the season. He disparaged preseason picks. I will offer the same deal for them. When he agrees which he will NOT I would require a deposit as I want to get paid. SHOW ME THE MONEY mplsgopher

I really like what I’m seeing from KCook and how he’s building the program (beyond just the winning at volleyball thing) - alumni in the gym, more community outreach (club clinics etc), more interviews and social media content, good stuff! |

I go back to pre-Hebert days. Played U of MN club ball in the early 80s. Sometimes Jill Halstead would show us how to receive tough serves.
A. I read and post frequently here because I love the sport, find it amazingly fascinating and every bit as complicated as other team sports I watch like football and baseball. Never played basketball (too short) and have never bothered to understand its complexity. I try to add value to the conversation, and welcome contrary observations. But civility, folks, PLEASE
I completely disagree with a certain poster's proclamation that "volleyball is a very simple sport". It brings into question his own mental acuity. In the last year my eyes have been widened by Joe Trinsey's 'Smarter Volley'. As much as I've gained from my observations over decades, there's just so much more going on.
I vote for more signal, less noise, and ask that before you hit the 'done' button to post you ask yourself whether or not your comments will make others feel better or not. I'm not in the habit of putting someone who has, sometimes, valuable insight on ignore, but spending 3 hours today catching up on 20odd pages tangled with negativity is just plain stupid and a waste of time.

Sadly, there's clearly a group here who think they own and run the yearly Gopher thread on VT and get to dictate what is allowed to be thought and what is allowed to be said.

What was said was in comparison to basketball and football, the formations and patterns of volleyball are simple. But there you are, reading that however you decide to read it and then forming judgements from there. You can't be serious? That's not what the internet is. That's not what it should be. VT isn't some special little carve out or safe space. VT is the internet.
The internet allows all opinions, whether you agree with or hate them. They get to be.

100 dollars if she makes first team Based on her performance in a glorified scrimmage at home vs Iowa State? Why not just wait a week and see how things look after playing Texas and Stanford in Milwaukee? Those are actual datapoints. |
