are Stanford players hanging their heads after being swept at -17 -16 -20 by Pitt? That was a dominating performance at home bewteen #1 & #5 Why should MN fans be all that surprised by #3 taking care of #14 in straight sets. MN had an uncharacteristically horrible offense. But for a series of service runs toward the end of all sets they remained in contact with a good team performing well... If MN hopes to retain the committee's faith in their top 16 seed, they will have to solve their passing inconsistency. The mark of a squad that wants to reach a regional semifinal will be measured by a bounceback in Columbus. Your statement beginning with "The mark of a squad that wants to reach a regional semifinal..." is absolutely true, but is also a sad commentary on the perception of this program. In the Hebert/ Hugh years the goal was a final 4. Now it seems to be to get a top 16 seed and get to the 2nd week. However, we fans have good hope for the future with Keegan's upcoming recruits + Stella. Is it really a sad commentary? 1. We are at the end? of the covid bonus years which will thin the pool of 5th year 'rentals'. Where would Penn State be without Mruzik, WI without Franklin, 2. We are in a new age of NIL and the transfer portal. There used to be a handful of elite level teams. Now there are two handfuls. SMU is a squad of transfers. With recognition will come recruits, but for teams who are serious recruiters there is no guarantee that your best players will stick around. 3. Elite female athletes may be more likely to gravitate to volleyball. The athleticism in our sport has taken a big jump. There are more elite athletes populating D1 VB rosters making it more difficult to crack the top 10. 4/5. To be successful in reaching the final four Hugh's low error approach required an elite setter to get back into system 5/4. The free ball era is mostly over and given Hambley's high SE willingness, so it seems is low SE% approach. The ability of a K.Plummer to terminate from almost anywhere used to be an anomaly. You now have high level players terminating OOS bump sets all over the place and you wonder when watching whether or not an aggressive a bump set from off the court is going to facilitate a hard driven attack. You expect that the best teams will be able to so that you can marvel at the execution. for myself, I've never had the belief that the mark of MN excellence in VB is dependent on finally winning a 'Natty'.

wtf was there a long outage Sunday night that ate my post? PavSecRow said flush it & move on and a detailed hour long dissertation disappeared .....twice upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. retried and the latest reset reason: connection failuredistilled: i'm not a flush it & move on guy sometimes the worst ends up bringing out your best down the road the team needs to rewatch the OSU-PSU match for OSU's prowess behind the service line that compromised PSU passing the team needs to rewatch the PSU match to understand the long PSU service runs in every set. In the first two sets they were tied or nearly tied in the late teens after being well overmatched early in the 3rd 4-11, they forced a t.o. at 12-15 and Hanson barely missed a line shot for 13-15... PSU had 21 before they got back in with a sideout 0 kills from MBs .000 H% from Wookie & Acevedo a serious drop in H% from Grote Are our pins having medical issues? One thing bothered me from a presser recently. One of the players said something about the need to focus on 'our side of the net'. They are going to be in Columbus in a week and they'd best have some focus on OSU propensities. Do you want Phoebe fronting Emme Sellman so we can rain on her coming out party, Are Stanford players hanging their heads after being swept at -17 -16 -20 by Pitt? In Hugh's third year, the team didn't make the NCAA tournament at all. Coaching transitions are hard, give him some time.

Acevedo looks to be improving passing - although just a small sample size, passed a 2.48 over the weekend.

Stupid profanity-checker. (I tried a couple ways that should’ve avoided it, without success.)

Hey Gopher fans! Not so new here, just a new profile cus the old email got super hacked a few years ago. For urls that are being dumb, perhaps a tinyurl converter could help? e.g. tinyurl.com/ Although I suppose since it's not a Youtube link it will just be a basic hyperlink (lolling at the way I read the whole URL to find the bad word). Testing a tiny link: tinyurl.com/dynh4dak^^if that didn't work, welp. I never paid much attention to pressers. Did Minny always have these previews, or are they just becoming more available on Youtube lately? I really like the way Keegan and the players answer; Keegan notably avoids a lot of "coach speak" non-answers. Like, I get not wanting to show your hand on a public platform, but it's nice to hear a bit of the inside scoop. I really like the air around this team. Seems more open, relaxed, and trusting.

Especially since Hugh made such a point of never saying anything, which I found more wearing with each year that went by.

Anyone know why Grote did not dress? on the broadcast, they indicated an injury, but I don't think there was anything more specific than that.

Anyone know why Grote did not dress? I assume you were at the match? On the broadcast the announcers said she’s out with an undisclosed injury. They also made it sound like Wucherer is still day to day even though she’s been playing (see: starting against Penn State but not being able to finish the first set plus moving awkward at times last night against Northwestern.) Really hope they’re not both sitting out the Ohio State match. Hanson would have to replicate last nights performance and then some. Wucherer took some great swings last night and played good defense at the net and in the back row. Against Londot and Sellman I think we need her if Grote is still out.

I also heard them saying that they expect her to be back in the line-up soon. I take that as her injury is minor and just wanted to make sure that she fully recovers before putting her back in.

I know I should put probably put this in the "Futures" thread; but, am too lazy to search for it lol - Does anyone think Kinney is going to redshirt next year? There's going to be a lot of individuals at the OH spot. I'm also curious as to what will happen to the right side next year. Will Gilk be ready? Crowl is going to need to get way stronger and consistent if she's going to be the one. (please stop tipping every other ball lol) In my opinion that will be the biggest question mark heading into next year.
