Not sure if this really matters anymore, but Paula officially removed the "HawaiiVB" from her IG page. So sad...was expecting big things from her this season. But her most recent post was her and a lot of teammates 🥺. I doubt this is the case but I hope there aren’t any visa issues she’s dealing with and may end up back in Germany. Hope we get some clarity on her thought process soon

Yes, seemed like she steadily improved last season and then took another leap forward in the Spring, adding some defense to her skillset. I was really looking forward to seeing her at OH and Caylen at OPP together again next season. Sufficient size to go up against big blocks while providing some of their own, and maybe nudging Hawaii out of the "good little mid-major" category. Hopefully there will be a good pickup to make up for losing Amber and Kennedi's impact on offense and defense.

Now that you mention it, she may have decided to go back home.

Now that you mention it, she may have decided to go back home. I think she achieved as much as one can achieve….except for winning a NT, which was a long shot anyway. She got AA award, she got a conference championship ring and she was able to experience the big dance by going to post season with the Wahine and winning a match. She probably wants to go in a new direction in her life and decided to leave. Yeah….she and her teammates were tight throughout…going to the beach, eating out and hanging out so no issue there. Don’t know how she feels about the coaches though. One of them can be pretty annoying. This one Costello guy keep reminding the players of hand/arm blocking technique during every time outs. Dude even constantly reminded Amber how to block. 😂😂😂 Good luck to Paula. She was a joy to watch.

Sad to see Paula go because when one hitter was in a funk, she was a spark. She at times provided a nice left side presence. She was a pretty steady player. Good luck to Paula.
I hope some magic comes the Wahine’s way.

I do wish the best for Paula, wherever she lands, unless she is playing Hawai'i/Wisconsin, in which case I hope she has a rough, but healthy, match, and the same to Ella Wrobel, who I hope is finally healthy enough to play regularly at Ohio State.

That would be HUGE for us. Much needed depth

That would be HUGE for us. Much needed depth If she is graduating early then I hope she's been working on her floor game. Her jump serve is decent. I can understand why she wouldn't want to work with that Kahuku coach

Wow…interesting development. It’s obvious Mili has graduated so she will be available to play this coming fall. Maybe Chalei will need to get serious and cram enough credits to graduate late in the summer and enroll at UH either in the fall or enter UH in the spring semester and redshirt.
Chalei has yet to sign so she is not officially a Wahine yet. She might be going the route of Kainoa Wade who will enroll in January.
If Chalei is planning to enroll early(whether August or January), it could be the reason, why we didn’t recruit anyone. The scholarship is for Chalei. This will be an extremely young team but plenty of potential. 6 freshmen is nuts. If we can win the conference with such a young roster, we could be set for years.

6 freshmen is nuts. If we can win the conference with such a young roster, we could be set for years. Hawai'i had 8 freshmen in 2004 (redshirt freshmen Juliana Sanders, Kari Gregory and Raeceen Woolford, true freshmen Tara Hittle, Jessica Keefe and Nickie Thomas, and walk-ons Caroline Blood and Kelly Ong) plus transfers Victoria Prince and Kahea Silva, and they didn't do too badly. Went undefeated the entire season before falling at Wisconsin in the NCAA Regionals.

I think if Ashley Watanabe didn't get injured prior to the Wisconsin match Hawaii would've won. Not knocking on Teisa Fotu, cause she was the utility player do it all.

Hmmm I'm not sure how I feel about this. I really like Chalei but I would prescribe her another year of playing juniors just to tighten up her game and get stronger. Regardless, if she does come in early I will be stoked.

With her having miss her jr year of HS and possibly her senior year, she will no doubt redshirt and take that one year to get used to D1 speed in practice and get ready to contribute in 2025.
One year of practice playing against Caylen, Mili, Tali, etc….would be better for her progress than to play a year of HS ball against inferior opponents. The strength and conditioning program at UH will also be more beneficial for her physically.
