BWC players of the week honors to Caylen and Kate definitely well deserved. Congrats to both players and to the Team for playing lights out vs the Beach. There's so much parity in the Big West this year, 6 teams with 3-1 records can you believe it? Hope the magic carries over to the UC Davis match, that could be a barn burner as well.

As well as the Wahine Team played in their match with LBSU, they can play just as badly. We all have witnessed this occur during a Wahine Match. The next 3, or 4 matches will tell, if the Wahine Team has stabled out, and continue to play at the high level they showed in the LBSU match. Otherwise, it will be like riding a roller coaster, the rest of the way. For those who love riding a roller coaster know, it can be thrilling and scary, a lot of ups and downs, turns and twists.

I honestly don't think this team will "stabilize" this season--it's going to be ups and downs all the way. We as fans just have to live with it. Hopefully, this team will be trending up at the end of the season. (One thing the coaching staff is good at is having this team ready during clutch time)

I miss her and her multiple purses! You never knew which one she would pick to come out swinging! Hahahahahahahahahah Would it be the Puka lauhala buss up purse....or the Gucci diamond studded blinged out purse? Hahahaha Love her. Lol! When I said "a rock" what I really meant was when she was filling her purse with rocks to swang on USC and LBSU.

Robyn talked about having her own car on road trips and getting lost with Caylen in the last episode yet Kanoa is surprised when she said she drives by herself? Kinda poor remembrance on his part as an interviewer

Her hitting was so hot and cold and mostly cold. Her approach and how she jumped just wasn't there for an outside that was only 6'0". Regardless, her passing and defense made up for a lot. In my opinion, Amber doesn't see as many sets are she did without Wags passing and digging the way she did. Fr. She wasn’t without her weaknesses, but overall she was a net positive for the team, and a massive net positive at that. Amber was the star of that class but she doesn’t get to be half the player she was without Riley as the team’s foundation. Heck, if I had to pick between Amber and Riley to add to the current Wahine team, it’s Riley by a mile. The team’s firepower is fine. Less than they were with Amber but fine. A foundation coming from solid passing is something that would elevate this team multiple levels. LOL you'd take RW over Amber?! We already have a sub .200 pin hitter on the team in Hakas. RW's passing won't get us much better offensively than we already are. Amber has the skills to take over a match. IMHO it's a no brainer - I'd take Amber in a heartbeat.

But in hypothetical situations, there aren't many teams I would leave a dominant middle like Amber off of.

RW on the "Bump Set Chat" podcast I didn't know that she wanted to be a Bow since she was 12 years old! According to this, she wanted to be a Bow since she was 10 ( Cindy Luis, Nov 17, 2018)
Coach Souder also passed along comments from Wagoner’s mom via Facebook: “Many people have asked how it came to be that Riley decided on Hawaii to continue her volleyball career. (Her father) was assigned to a project on Oahu with the Ohio Air National Guard in 2010. ... We decided it would be nice to take the kids out for a visit. Riley fell in love with the island at 10 years old. As her volleyball career started to unfold, every time I would ask her where she wanted to play she answered Hawaii. I would laugh and move on because I really thought it was just a dream. We emailed the coach frequently from her freshman year on hoping they would get the hint that she was interested 😜. Riley’s club team was heading to California to play in the last tournament before nationals her sophomore year so we tried one last time. We got a response from the new coaching staff. Angelica, Robyn, and Kaleo came to see her play in California and the recruiting journey began. We made the trip out in October of her junior year just before high school tournaments started and she still loved it as much as she did in 2010. When I heard the words…I really think I want to play here, ... I almost died. A flood of emotions went through me but knowing that we had been on a dozen visits and she still hadn’t found the right fit, I knew her dream needed to become reality. ... Robyn offered Riley a scholarship in the locker room after their match surrounded by future teammates.

We've had some really great middles over the years: Heather Bown, Angelica Ljungqvist, Veronica Lima, Victoria Prince, Amber Kaufman, and recently Emily Maglio. You can add Amber to that list of greats.

I would say it’s less a commentary on what the team has and more about where theyre struggling than anything else. I don’t doubt Amber would also add value to the team, but even if she were theoretically with the roster I suspect the passing would be holding her back anyways. Foundation always has to come first. Heavy hitters and standouts take a solid foundation into the next level.
