I think if Stella is that impactful offensively, and Tali as far as her floor defense, would not be surprised if they split that position during the season. Seamlessly giving one or the other the 6rotation nod when their counterpart is not on point in what they are doing.
Would be a good way to keep both developing and ready to step up immediately together when Paula is gone. If my DK dreams never come true, then I’m hoping for a Paula and Caylen breakout season that’s incredible to watch.

The Wahine played a lot better, they just needed a little warm up. Lovin their aggressive serves. Enjoy 🤙

Against Colorado State: - Matias had a nice night, looked better than Lang, especially feeding the middle. - Bamis can put a ball down... needs some work on blocking but looked better there and overall showed improvement, grit, and coachability. Got the crowd going. - Serve recieve was better than previous night, especially the first set. Broke down a bit later though. They don't seem to like the Eva side of the court as much for some reason. - Serving was better overall. - Lane and Leyva got more court time. Ikenaga #1, Lane ahead of Leyva but not by much and got a hunch not for long. - 6' 7" Maui girl, Richardson? Demonstrated one hell of a line drive float serve. Mens game worthy. - Hakas had a better night hitting I thought, not sure if the numbers showed it. She got some better sets, was seeing and working the block better. - Caylen didn't look as sharp early. Can hit some angles though the others don't even attempt. - Paula and Stella can both put a ball down. Paula is working on tooling the block a bit, and the coaches are guiding her to it.

We had an outside slide play for Amber, but there were a series of plays she could cause that would spread her all throughout the net. I think Amber liked a more inside slide the best as that's what she called. It's definitely Bamis's best shot--she could be our latest slide queen when all is said and done. Good for the coaches and setting for figuring out what works with her.

Wahine’s Bamis having blast being in middle of the actionBy Billy HullGEORGE F. LEE / GLEE@STARADVERTISER.COM Hawaii middle Jacyn Bamis looked for a kill against Colorado State’s Kennedy Stanford and Karina Leber during Wednesday’s women’s volleyball match at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Bamis finished with 17 kills and nine blocks. As the only middle blocker on the roster, there is nowhere to hide for Jacyn Bamis this spring. The 6-foot-1, redshirt sophomore transfer from Clemson, who played behind Amber Igiede and Kennedi Evans last season, has taken on a full load the past month. She didn’t have a problem carrying that load Wednesday night for Hawaii in a 25-18, 25-21, 25-16 sweep of Colorado State with a match-high 17 kills and nine blocks. A SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center crowd of 897 had a few Igiede flashbacks as Bamis filled up the stat sheet like her predecessor, hitting .500 over the first three sets. The teams decided because it was a sweep to play a fourth set that Colorado State won 25-18. Bamis, who has to play all six rotations in the front row during these exhibition matches, couldn’t get subbed out at any point, mirroring her days in the practice gym. UH will add at least two freshman middle blockers in the fall. But for Bamis, it’s her time now whether she’s ready or not. “My legs hurt, but it’s been good. I’ve been enjoying it learning about the game more,” Bamis said. “I feel like I’ve definitely grown, especially with Kennedi and Amber as my role models. I’ve learned a lot from them.” Hawaii coach Robyn Ah Mow hasn’t noticed any slowdown in Bamis with the workload this spring. “She’s definitely in shape,” Ah Mow said. “She’s getting better. It’s been good for her getting all of the reps. She needs to make sure she solidifies one of the middle spots in there.” Bamis provided half of Hawaii’s kills in the opening set, putting down her eighth on match point to give the Rainbow Wahine an early lead. She had eight kills in 11 attempts with redshirt freshman Jackie Matias getting the start at setter and feeding the middle like Igiede and Evans were on the court. She also teamed with Paula Guersching for both of UH’s blocks in the opening set. Bamis continued her tear in the second set with five more kills in six swings and two more blocks to put UH ahead 13-7. She couldn’t be stopped by the Rams. Without another player at her position, Ah Mow had no choice but to leave her in the game. CSU cut the lead to 23-21 in the second set when Bamis’ sixth block gave UH set point. Caylen Alexander never left the ground on her final swing over the net that landed in to put UH up 2-0. Bamis finished off the third set with a kill and a block on the final two points. “I’m excited for this next season and I’m going to keep putting in the hard work and I can’t wait to represent the Rainbow Wahine,” Bamis said. Alexander had nine kills over four sets and freshman Stella Adeyemi had five kills in eight swings in three sets played. The Rams, who finished third in the Mountain West last season, started both players with Hawaii ties on their roster. Junior libero Kate Yoshimoto, a Punahou graduate, had five digs and an assist. Kekua Richards, a 6-foot-7 redshirt freshman middle blocker from Seabury Hall, had a kill and an ace to go along with two digs. Hawaii, which beat UNLV in five sets on Tuesday night, will end its three-match spring season tonight hosting Notre Dame at 7.

Guess USC still means playing in a high level conference but for a less competitive team. Do whatever you feel works best for you Dev, at this point, you’re in control over your career. Sometimes the name of the jersey is what drives the athlete more…

Thought she was playing beach this spring for Texas as well. From what the Texas thread sounds like, she SHOULD enter, because she’ll have 2 experienced transfers to compete with on the rightside by the fall not to mention 2 rs freshmen both vying for the position. I’m sure Texas culture is incredible but why waste your time like that when you could be developing elsewhere

Agree with all your comments. We looked better last night as compared to the previous night but it's hard to gauge because of how bad CSU's ball control is. Paula G passing/defense looked much better last night. We got to see Lane and Leyva play more. There's a drop off in play from Ikenaga to Lane who didn't look particularly comfortable out there last night in that set she started as the lib. Like I said previously, I think we'll be ok with Paula, Stella, Caylen, Kate/Jackie, and Tayli, and I think Bamis will be ok - she runs a nice slide. Without seeing Mili and Maddie - who is rehabbing, IMHO I still think we need an experienced D1 middle and OH transfer but I understand from others on here that we probably don't have any scholarships to give so I suppose it's doubtful we will get the help we'll need.

She didn't enter the portal or announce she's transferring? Thought she was playing beach this spring for Texas as well. It's not portal season yet. But speculation mounted because she posted instagram photos from USC campus last week. (I just figure if she were coming here for a visit it might have been during spring games) I don't think Texas beach season has started yet.

Got it, ya from my understanding she's on the Beach roster and she can't be actively taking visits since the portal hasn't even opened up. But what do I know lol. I am more concerned about us getting a solid middle to come on board than another pin.

Devin is not in the portal. Whether she will enter and those were 😂 “Unofficial” visits like she just looking at the campus idk.
I was told she wanted to transfer a long time ago, and it was making its way around the club circuit, even in so cal.
So we’ll see.
We would definitely be in the running if she did decide to leave
