Why are y’all speculating the scholarship count as if you guys know what it is?
We don’t know who’s on NIL, academic etc.

If you're talking about me, I never speculated about anything to do with the schollies available. We are just opining about what we think our team needs to be successful next year.

I understand what you said and that makes some sense BUT we will be thinner in the middle. Our outsides next year we have Paula, Caylen, Stella, and Hakas. In a pinch we could insert Adriana or Purcell-Telefoni and even Mane in an extreme pinch. That makes 7 pin hitters. For middle next year we will have Bamis, Mili, and Maddie as our true middles. 3 middles - that's it. Bamis I'm not sold on and Maddie is coming off of a knee injury and will be behind and Mili has zero D1 college experience. We are WAY thinner next year at middle than pin hitters. Yea…we kinda screwed up with 3 setters but I guess Robyn could work things out where one of the setters give up her scholarship in exchange for another form of financial agreement in order to find that much needed MB/OH. What? It’s not legit to retract scholarships like that.

is it just me or does Bamis hit way better with Matias setting Matias was likely her primary setter for a whole year as she set the B side

Against Notre Dame: - Team still struggles more with serve receive when on the Eva side... don't know why - Game within the Game: #12 for Notre Dame a good server, got them in trouble with long serving runs. She was quick and rhythmic at the service line, knew what she wanted to do and who to target, and never looked to her sideline for guidance; nothing was done to slow her down or break her concentration until nothing flat a six-point run and a timeout. Game within the game... find some sweat to wipe, a shoestring to tie, get a band aid for a scratch, debate with a ref... break up that quick serve rhythm! - More Game within the Game: Hakas serving, got caught looking for serving zone instructions, Castello looking away, the ref whistled to serve, she kept looking at Castello then realized nothing was coming and time to serve was running out, then rushed to just serve over and netted. Hawaii servers have an annoying check with Castello habit that sometimes leads to interrupting their own serving rhythm and feel for the game. - More Game within the Game: Alexander at opposite, Lang setting, Hawaii receiving. Lang is signaling play to the team, Caylen looking at the Notre Dame side. Lang walks up to Caylen and taps her and speaks to her. #12 for Notre Dame is across the net from Caylen and sees Lang tap and speak to her. Lang sets the pass to Caylen, and #12 is all over it and solo blocks. Anyone paying attention knew Lang wanted to set Caylen pass permitting. Might as well have announced it.
I'm picking on the Game within the Game as this group finished spring strong; they can do more than just work on their fundamentals.

Rainbow Wahine finish spring with sweepBy Billy HullMARCO GARCIA / SPECIAL TO THE STAR-ADVERTISER Hawaii’s Jacyn Bamis and Stella Adeyemi attempted to block a shot from Notre Dame’s Phyona Schrader on Thursday. The gym is quieter than normal, but it hasn’t affected the Hawaii women’s volleyball team. Playing without six seniors from last year’s team that won a fourth straight Big West Conference championship, Hawaii completed three straight wins during its spring exhibition season with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-15 sweep of Notre Dame on Thursday night at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. A crowd of 1,024 watched the Rainbow Wahine, with 11 players on their roster coming off a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Oregon, handle the Fighting Irish to close the spring season. UH needed five sets to beat UNLV on Tuesday, and then swept Colorado State on Wednesday before the teams played a fourth set won by the Rams. Hawaii also played a fourth set against Notre Dame on Thursday, winning 27-25. “I think they like it because they keep playing,” Hawaii coach Robyn Ah Mow said about the number of new players on the roster. “I think it helps the kids. It’s not that much people (inside the arena). I think it’s good for them.” Caylen Alexander had a match-high 11 kills and five digs and junior Paula Guersching added eight kills and seven digs. Junior Jacyn Bamis, the only middle on UH’s roster in the spring, had seven kills and three blocks. “(The gym) definitely feels empty, but it’s definitely been a grind this spring just really focusing on staying patient with ourselves and each other,” Alexander said. “Obviously we’ve had to work with a whole new team because everyone had to leave, so I think the patience has really worked out because as you saw today we came together and we won.” Sophomore Tali Hakas chipped in six kills on 19 swings and freshman Stella Adeyemi added four kills and two digs with an ace. “I like Stella, I like Jacyn, I’ve got to get on one of the setters because I’ve liked the way she’s played,” Ah Mow said. “I feel like our passing was not bad. I feel like all of the girls have gotten better at something. I was going to say blocking, but we didn’t block well today.” UH had just three blocks against the Fighting Irish, who finished 12th in the ACC last season. Redshirt junior Tyla Reese Mane ended the third set with her first kill of the spring to give UH a win by double digits. Neither team led by more than three points in the first set until a Hakas kill gave UH set point at 24-20 with one of her six kills. Alexander ended the set on a pass from Matias to put UH ahead. An Alexander ace and a kill by Hakas gave UH its largest lead in the second set at 17-12. The Fighting Irish scored the next eight points to take an 18-17 lead on an error by Hakas. Hawaii closed out the set with a Notre Dame service error, allowing UH to take the lead by two sets. Sydney Palazzolo led Notre Dame with 11 kills. Jackie Matias had 19 assists to lead UH and Tayli Ikenaga had 14 digs, and three of Hawaii’s seven aces. “I think they like it because they keep playing and I rotate the hitters,” Ah Mow said. “I think it’s good for them.”

My two cents worth after attending all 3 scrimmages: the Wahine got better every match. These 11 ladies are scrappy. Caylen had her ups and downs but she's good to go at oppo. Paula is looking really good. Her passing/defense is way better than last year and her hitting is more powerful. Stella is the biggest pleasant surprise for me. Her passing is good and her hitting is dynamic. I was thinking that because of her size, her blocking would be a liability but last night she solo blocked 6'3" Palazzolo straight down. Hakas seemed to struggle at times but she's a competitor. I also liked Jackie's setting this week. She looks more polished and makes good choices. She also has a better connection with Bamis probably due to them playing on the B team last year. Lang looked like her usual steady self, sometimes bad setting choices and dying sets but she's solid. I would consider running a 6-2. Tayli looked good and so did Leyva. Colby not so much. Bamis is serviceable in the middle. She runs a nice slide but she needs to work on her blocking. Can't wait for August.
