I think Caylen hitting out of the backrow is too lethal to seriously consider a 6-2. Maybe a regular double sub situation if we really want to get another hitter in but idk who is going to bring that much firepower for 3 rotations even if they are in the front row. I don’t see any of the freshman being that type of hitter right away and most of the other pins are spoken for in their respective positions. For sure Tali or Stella as a 3 rotation opposite isnt wor the trouble

Completely agree. What do you think about Robyn instituting a 6-2? I'm not a fan of the 6-2. Largely because it demands that more pieces be performing at a high level. I also think that the two setters need to be similar in order to maintain offensive consistency and you need to recruit this way. I also think that it doesn't teach athletes to be all-around volleyball players. Now in the context of this team, if we were going off of spring, I don't think a 6-2 would work. Jackie and Kate are very different in their setting styles and Hawaii doesn't have enough viable hitters to actually make it an honest 6-2. Hypothetically, I would be more open to it if there was another Caylen on the team who could be an offensive threat. I What do you think? Paula unloaded a couple of bombs from the BIC last night. Not quite Caylen-like but close. My take….UH need to keep both Paula and Caylen in for 6 rotations because both of them can terminate from the left, right and BIC. At time, there were 4 offensive options for the setter to set. It will create a “pick your poison “ scenario if both of them can continue to be able to terminate all over. Regarding Bamis, she looked super offensively. She is quick and athletic but does not possess the vertical needed to be a good blocker Without much lift, she was unable to press over so it was difficult for her to stuff anyone unless the hitter’s attacks were low.. She just doesn’t have much lift when she jumps. Hope that can improve over the summer. Stella looked much Improved. If she continues her impressive, she will be fun to watch. Tali looked fantastic at times and average at times. Consistency will be needed from her. All in all, I think we will be good. We will move from a middle heavy squad to one where our pins will be the stars. Paula and Caylen are all conference type. We will probably ride these two to success.

Couldn't agree more about moving to a more pin oriented offense. Thank you for sharing your insight!

A 6-2 will take away Bamis’ best weapon….the wide step out. Kate and Jacyn did hook up on a couple of nice 31s in the 4th set.

I like the idea of running a modified 6-2 if you have two good setters and enough hitters. I like the idea of having 3 hitters in the front row at all times but you're probably right about not having enough hitters. Yes. More things need to go right for a full-time 6-2 to work and the personnel has to be just right. I do like what Robyn has done with the double sub. It's a substitution tactic that does a few things immediately for the team and the complexion of the match.

Robyn needs to bring in another competent OH/OPP hitter. Cause if any of the OH/OPP hitters go down, Robyn and the Wahine Team is in BIG Trouble, just like the Men's team is in right now. Robyn and the Wahine Team is extremely thin at the OH/Opp position.

People forget about the 6-2 already. Robyn just does not have the players to run a 6-2. If she had the kind of players that Texas and Nebraska have, then maybe a 6-2 can be considered, but the Wahine Team just does not have that kind of depth.

More athleticism at the pins next year than in recent memory, giving our setters more options with the departure of Amber the Great.

Tali has been pretty underwhelming, considering her credentials. I mean, she's fiery and she works hard, but she's not the ticket for now.

The coaches have a responsibility to get her to where they want her to be. If Tali plays for Cook she could probably be an AA.

Cause cook did SO good at developing all that top ten talent like Lexi sun, ally battenhorst, BROEKHUIS This is no knock on cook. He’s probably the best coach in the ncaa right now, maybe the best ever But can we stop making like he develops these no nothing players into AAs cause he does not lol
