This was announced a month ago, wasn't it? No. It was announced two months ago that she signed with LOVB. Her team wasn't announced, though Salt Lake always felt most likely.

Is Dani really a better passer than RJP right now?
Dani has played opposite quite a bit in her pro teams recently it seems; while RJP was one of the top OH in Brazil.
I know we love the idea of a left handed OH, but to me Dani is a bit like JT; solid as an NCAA OH, but likely fits in better at Opp as a pro player.
I will admit though that I haven’t paid much attention to Dani’s passing at this level. (No, I’m not suggesting that JT is a lefty; just that she played OH in college but her attempt at OH as a pro went quite poorly.)

Dani didn’t pass at all this past year in Japan and spent the entire season at opposite, putting up incredibly similar hitting numbers to Annie Drews.

Isn't it more natural for lefties to play on the right and righties on the left because the ball gets to your attacking arm more quickly? At least that's how it mostly is in college. I'm not sure if there's something at the pro level that changes it. I guess being a lefty instead of a righty changes the look for the block, but I feel like good blockers should be able to adapt to a left-handed outside.

Yes you’re right it’s far less common because it’s less natural - that’s exactly why “we” (some people, myself included) like to see it when it does happen; the novelty of it. Current Dutch player Nova Marring is an example. She’s quite fun to watch swinging on the left as a lefty.

Okay, that makes sense.

With the announcement of Morgan Miller, LOVB Salt Lake now has 12 of its 14 players announced. The roster:
OH: Roni Jones-Perry, Claire Hoffman, Maddie Haynes, Morgan Miller S: Jordyn Poulter, Tamaki Matsui OPP: Dani Drews, Heidi Casanova (Drews is listed as an outside, but she'll likely play opposite) MB: Haleigh Washington, Serena Gray L: Manami Kojima, Mary Lake
They still need two more middles. Heather Gneiting is very likely. The only other middle that has not been assigned yet is Anita Anwusi, but she seems very likely to be headed to Houston. So that means the final player is probably an as-yet-unannounced middle that played in PVF last season.

https://www.instagram.com/p/C85BbxHSXMh With the addition of Fields, I guess Salt Lake will only have three middles unless a pin moves (can they go ahead and announce Gneiting already?). Edit: avid said in the other thread that they may not stick at exactly 84 players, so some (all?) teams might have 15.

Casanova plays good defense and has a good serve, and she has a variety of shots on both pins. Plays with some energy, too.

Lol, I think the LOVB social media team forgot about Heather Gneiting. She is now officially listed as a member of Salt Lake, but they never announced it. It was very weird that they kept announcing new players from PVF, and Gneiting was the only player among the original signings without a team.
