Those first four matches will be big. I think if Penn State can come away at least 3-1, it will be a great start to the season. First two weekends will be 3-2 at best. More likely 2-3. And 1-4 is absolutely on the table.

That Tenn match will be big. Can you tel what that means to you? Like they have to win it or that if they win it it will be huge? I get TN is expected to be good but you need to know why that match is important to play? Win or lose if TN has a year that they think they might have just to play it is important .

The preseason would not be complete without your cup-half-empty, negative-waves posts kicking off the regular season. You’re basing all this negativity on the fact that PSU has all these “new” moving pieces to deal with, totally forgetting the fact that the teams they are going to play have the same issues to deal with. All of them have a bunch of freshman recruits and transfers that came in and they have to replace key pieces that have either transferred out or graduated. The closest one to not having those issues is Louisville. I think most of their starters are back, but I do think two have left. Just not totally sure about that. Tennessee lost at least 4 OH, 1 MB & 2 liberos to replace. They did pick up Hayden Kubik from Nebraska Kentucky lost at least 1 OPP & 1 MB Louisville lost at least 2 Setters, 1 OPP & 1 OH Check it out for yourself: women.volleybox.net. (Couldn’t get the link to work. This site only shows transfers from team to team, from club to team, from team to pro. It doesn’t show players that have just retired from volleyball. You can see the changes by conference if you care to)

And she’s being replaced either by sophomore Reese Robins who made a huge impact in last year’s tournament, or Arizona transfer Sofia Maldonado Diaz. All other departures were bench players or serving subs, and they’re being replaced with a highly touted incoming class. PSU does have more new pieces on the court to contend with, but I do think there’s a strong chance those pieces mesh well from the start, and we see an improvement on last year’s Penn State team. I like PSU a lot and look forward to another matchup between the Cards and the Nittany Lions. Two of my favorite teams to watch.

PSU also had their summer trip, that should be a big step ahead in terms of finding chemistry on court, kind of like Nebraska last year

Better setting, better back court, better OPP, better in the middle… with the exception of Louisville, you should have a better roster-and you get to play them at home. That early ooc will only serve to give the new players an instant indoctrination to top 10 college volleyball. If you are truly a top 4 B1G team, you really should expect no more than one loss on the non-con. Your team deserves this level of schedule… 🏐

Did Sarah Hickman tour Penn State? I don’t know, can’t seem to find anything unless she discussed it on X. Ella Andrews did attend camp there. She’s evidently a very good MB in the 26 class, but the rumor is that she is holding out for Stanford. Since Stanford is well stocked with MB, I just don’t know. I personally would like to see her come to Penn State since she would fill an important role at just the right time. Both Maggie and Jordan will be gone and our middle blocker position will be a little thin

Since Stanford is well stocked with MB, I just don’t know. Not really, they have the numbers but Lizzie Andrew will be the only 'highly recruited' MB on the roster after the 2025 season, unless they pick one up in this class. Stanford missed on Taylor Harvey and is in definite need of a top MB recruit for 2026

This start to the season is brutal.

We have a new recruit - who has the tea? Maybe not the IG post has been removed Coach Katie's post is still up so I don't think so. My guess is it's Kendall Northern. She follows a bunch of the players and follows multiple Penn State accounts not just Penn State Volleyball.

I read also Kendall Northern. On volleyball recruiter, she’s listed as an opposite, On Hudl, she’s listed as a middle hitter and all the highlight film is with her as a middle. She’s listed at 6’1”, but has great footwork and springs for legs. She’s quick and seems to hit with power. She’s rated as a four on volleyball recruiter out of a possible 5 and I suspect her height as a middle hurt her score a bit. But she looks pretty good to me with her skills.
