Once the Wisconsin coach said something to the effect of we don’t have the expectation of winning a national championship match and they don’t even really talk about it I stopped watching. You can feel the pain of a tooth extraction getting them to acknowledge they got walloped. Wisconsin coach couldn’t physically make his brain go to that 3rd set when the question was about a series of points - “oh you mean the 3rd set…” 😆 It’s kind of painful to watch honestly because it feels like it all was so unexpected and not according to plans and expectations- like kids joy riding and a car crash the next - and no one can describe what happened. It’s just awful. The looks of disappointment and bewilderment displaced by lame attempts to justify not being on the same level as an opponent you’re known to be superior to. It’s so sad and crushing. I think I’ll watch it again. I see you still trying to spin that overmatched under appreciated nonsense. Texas WAS equal to or greater then wisconsin in team talent. They were at a venue where they were going to have more fan support then Wisconsin. They were the better team PERIOD before the 'unexpected' win and after. That’s why according to the poll in this thread that we’re both typing in on the very first page Wisconsin is the overwhelming favorite.

As many Texas fans voted for motivational purposes not for who they actually thought would win. Anyone paying attention that is.

The tournament is an incredibly definitive thing, but sometimes not the definitive thing people want it to be. The tournament (obviously) definitively determines the tournament champion, which is an amazing and much-sought-after achievement. That's it. That's what it's for; that's what it does. The trophies say "tournament champion" not "best overall team 2023." The tournament doesn't definitively determine which team is "best overall" - though on many occasions the "best overall" and tournament champion have been the same. People seem to get so stressed or frustrated by this dichotomy, especially if they feel their team is better overall than the tournament champion. But that's an unavoidable situation in light of a single elimination format - it's bound to happen intermittently.
I think possibly hardcore fans get frustrated if they think their team is "better overall" but doesn't win the tournament because casual fans and observers really don't care (just throwing theories out there). The tournament winner is what gets attention and the great seasons of non-winning teams don't get the same attention. Maybe on a hardcore fan site like VT, but not many other places.
Are you WI fans for real? WI just came unglued, got spanked, and sent home with red bottoms. Now you are saying your 2021 National Championship is NOT a National Championship, but just a Tournament Championship ... LMFAO I mean, cut them some slack. They’ve only won a championship once and that’s solely because of a temporary eligibility rule change. Their rise to relevance hasn’t been going for too terribly long…delusion tags along with that.

But my FAVORITE part of your fever dream is that Texas would have more fans…

Texas was playing like they did the two games prior. Compare the talent to Wisconsin. Texas was the better team previously just being undersold by their online supporters in polls and such. LOL. You are so delusional. And it's ironic given how insistent you were about polls earlier in the season... Texas was not playing at a great level against Tennessee - they were down 1-2 and 20-23 in the 4th about to be eliminated. They fought back to win, but they were in serious trouble. Texas has done what they had to do to win, but, IDK what point you're trying to prove here. Wisconsin was clearly the more consistent team.

The theory that Texas fans thought a VT poll result would have any actual effect on their team, and thus intentionally tanked it to motivate them…

Madi the record setter with 6 aces, how can that not be the NPOY?? And if she wins this natty... legend status Hagiography is a Texas staple.

Madisen Skinner is that girl! 🔥 I said it last year after they won the title she was going to be the next Logan Eggleston and lead this Texas team. She might be playing better than Eggleston. Even before the start of the 2022 season, Coach Elliott nicknamed her appropriately . . .

If you go back and read posts in the page 70-79 window and compare to the posts in pages 80-89 (that’s a guess on the page windows but it’s around there) the sentiment on GG is fascinating. The early pages everyone was saying to give her the Libero jersey and she was feasting. Then a pretty stark 180 calling for her to be benched and get out of SR. Texas played out of their minds, especially Emma. Madi didn’t play as well as she has the last couple matches but finished strong. As a few of us Texas posters said before the match, Texas was never going to get blown out. With Madi and Asjia they will compete in every match. Also, someone please find a clip of the Emily Ehman comments on Wisco crushing Texas and link it. volleyballmag.com/emily-ehman-lee-feinswog-ncaa-volleyball-zoom-121123/17:45 - “I don’t know how much of a game this is gonna be” ahahahah she was right about one thing. Amazing I don’t mind her opinion, that’s what she gets paid to do and she wasn’t the only one with the opinion before the match. But maybe she’s save her condescending chuckle when discussing the chances a defending national champion has with 2 returning 1st team AA next time.
