I will revisit this statement after spring season but, based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m predicting Cabello eventually wins the starting setter spot. She has the physicality, tempo, and speed that would serve the Louisville offense well. Glock is a great leader and role model, and she ran an impressive offense. My gut tells me we’ll see more consistency in the offense with Cabello at the helm. We’ll see if I eat my words come spring. www.instagram.com/reel/C2QSMDbOSE4/?igsh=MXA1OWF0MnVxenFyJust a quick observation on this great UofL program: I am unsettled about the OH(2) position at an elite level and also the setting. Glock is not cut out of the same model as highly successful Card setters of the past. She is serviceable but not elite. It appears that Danny missed on a couple of setters over the last 2-3 years and this is hurting the program. Cabello might be a closer fit to the tempo of the program in terms of athletic ability. It will be interesting to see if a OH shows up in the portal in the spring. Everything else on that roster is more settled.

OH is the deepest position on Louisvilles roster for 2024 lol... there won't be any transfers in to the program unless one of them transfers out. I'm content with luper at OH, she was up and down a lot but if you look at her stats against top teams aside from the last pitt match she was putting up huge numbers. I attribute more of debeer and lupers offensive struggles throughout the season to Glock. People rip on them for their low hitting %'s but they're consistently receiving poor sets, and there's no set Glock struggles more with than to the left pin

I don't want to rip on Glock because a lot of programs would do well with her. Glock aside, Louisville seems to have a setter standard of excellent athletic ability over the years and so my comments have more to do with Louisville seeming to leave what brought them to the dance with a setter who doesn't fit the mold. Not a bad setter per se but just an anomaly. I think they had 2 or 3 setters the last 3 years that were recruited and just took up space and then left the program. I am not sure about the future with the OH's .... Anna's knee, Lupers poor match when it counted so much (and a few others) .... and a little apprehension at Opp ..... but usually Louisville might have just 1 question heading into the season and now it seems they have several .... usually that spells trouble for a final 4 appearance, but maybe not. It will be interesting to watch.

It is such a shame that Lazaro was a Cardinal for only one year. What a queen. Anyone know how she’s doing in Germany? I’d love to see her in the PVF.

Alright, I'll bite. From best to worst: Raquel Lázaro Wilma Rivera Tori Dilfer Stringer Katie George Taylor Brauneis switch the top 2 and I agree I would switch the top 2 also. Agreed! It would be interesting to see how the UofL staff would rate them?? Katie George is a favorite of DBK, but I have a hard time separating the player from the color commentator .... it wouldn't hurt my ears if she were dropped off the TV ... who needs 2 color commentators on one broadcast anyway? It was a bad idea to begin with especially when one of them has to comment on everything that happens on the court and can't let the conversation end before the next play starts. I especially hate it when they start to tell us what the actual players on the court are thinking in their head! The Super Bowl drove me nut with Tony Romo ..... how he ever got to the #1 spot is a mystery to many! Katie is more well spoken than Romo but she talks even more than he does. Fine art to silence on the TV set .... but this list of setters is a good one!

Why rip on Glock? Louisville has had a dam* solid last two years - national title game appearance and Elite Eight.

I dont think people are ripping on Glock, but from a volleyball standpoint she was probably the weakest link in terms of starters in 2023

If she was the "weakest" player, then UL was pretty dam* good the last two years. I'm guessing the converse is, even if she was an elite setter, it wouldn't have made the difference for UL to win the title in either or both seasons.

I know stanfordvb already said this but Glock didn’t set in 2022. Lazaro did…

Did Jenna wenaas go win texas the title? Again, glock has only started the most recent season, not the last two. Team results are a bad way to argue about an individual's skill level

Maldonado Diaz to Louisville is official (per Instagram)
EDIT: I also updated the full roster on pg. 5 of this thread, let me know if anything is wrong/needs editing.
