Hopefully Trump is elected and then we will have Federal Laws prohibiting biological males from competing in womens sports. I don't even like Trump but he will get my vote because he will make this happen. End of story. And for the Liberals, even a guy like Bill Maher gets it, he understands biological males have no business competing in womens sports. How is this thread still not in OTN during tournament season damn Also, I thought the entire board was “no politics allowed” - why are we talking about former U.S. presidents here??

Maybe feedback from the team was part of the reason. We have zero clue why the scholarship was pulled.

I feel for her. I hope she continues to find love in the sport

You are ok giving the nuclear codes to a monster who incited an insurrection in this country and still, to this day, refuses to accept the results of an election.... someone you admit to not even liking, just because there would be a chance at having a Federal ban on transgender people participating in womens sports at public schools.

Imagine being proud of attacking a teenager like this. F*cking disgusting.

I have no idea what the actual facts are, but UW policy is (as far as I know) to honor the preferred names and gender identities of their students and staff, so I would hope that the story that has been presented here (that an offer was made and then pulled) is not true.

Imagine being proud of attacking a teenager like this. F*cking disgusting. You took the words out of my mouth and did it much more concisely than the following I was drafting: Thinking about this Riley Gaines person. Imagine being so small of a person that you would celebrate something bad happening to a child, while also being so blinded by your own motivations that you lack the decency or compassion to not make a public post celebrating it. On top of that, you're so lacking in humanity that you take this opportunity to further spread the minor's identity by posting a photo of them, clearly seeking to facilitate their outing. I hope whatever Gaines is getting out of this, whether it's clout, money for paid appearances, whatever it is, that it keeps her warm at night. If the scholarship was indeed pulled, I hope she finds another team to play on and college to go to, live out her dreams in the next chapter- I'm rooting for her.

There are complications to recruiting a trans athlete...for example.... - When did she start transitioning? Is she going to meet NCAA requirements to play by the time she enrolls? Is she below NCAA requirements now? - If she started recently or even in the last year, were her stats and videos from before or after her hormone blockers? If she did mislead coaches (I kinda find it hard to believe they didnt' even google her before offering a scholarship), then I do think that could be grounds for rescinding a scholarship or at least having another conversation to make sure she'll be able to play and still perform at the same level.

And for the Liberals, even a guy like Bill Maher gets it, he understands biological males have no business competing in womens sports. this is actually DISGUSTING. there are MANY reasons why trump should never ever be in office or even considered but speaking on the sports directly, who is to say that if she were to be on the team that UW would win games? Sports is not fair and that’s the reality of things. Are you going to complain that someone competing against you who is a foot taller than you is “unfair”? No so what makes the difference if someone, who transitioned BEFORE puberty, is on the opposing team? they offered her based on her merits and skill talent. and also for the people that are like “well she took a scholarship away from another female” well guess what? the coaches chose her over another female and THATS OK. it happens all the time in women’s sports, you don’t get the scholarship that you think you get. you move on with life. it’s actually so sad that people want to intervene and give their opinion won someone’s life that they don’t even know. if it doesn’t pertain to you directly move on.

Most logical and sane people know that NCAA sports is divided into male and female divisions, based on sex, not gender or supposed gender or anything else. And they are not transphobic for believing so. The hate and rhetoric from the trans and LGBTQ community on this board is pretty sickening. Mental illness is real.

In probably 95% of D1 programs, the coaches consult their players on new recruits. I spoke to some of my friends who currently play D1 about this and they said that they do not think their team would okay with this situation at all. this isn't my opinion so no one attack im just giving another perspective of what couldve happened with the offer being taken away. As sad as it may be, that commitment, if followed through with could backfire majorly on UW. I'm almost positive they would lose roster personnel and miss out on recruits

But if that were the case, let me just ask here: if a bunch of white players on a team said they would be uncomfortable if the coach recruited a black player, would that be considered an acceptable reason for the coach not to recruit the black player?
