I just found out from a Tik Tok that John Cook was Wisconsin’s head coach from 1992 to 1998 🤯 I wasn’t born yet to witness it, and I don’t recall ever hearing announcers mention it. Mind blown Yep. He was the coach when I started following in 1995. Built the program back up after Steve Lowe sadly died. Waite went to the national championship against Cook’s husker squad with a badger team largely recruited by Cook. His leaving left a bad taste for many. It gets mentioned now and again. For example, when they are reviewing Cook’s career or when Sheff passed him in program wins.

Also I know this is overthinking but Devyn posted a TikTok and it’s a video of her running a slide, so early indication is she is going back to the middle but I’m sure she’s also taking reps on the right In that clip Devyn is running a slide in Rotation 1. They stack everyone over on the left. She runs a slide so she doesn’t not have to attack from the outside position. If you look Franklin is pushing both Devyn and Crawford over. So Crawford is in as a middle in this clip and Devyn as an opposite running a slide. Charlie was setting a 5-1 with this group. Serving was the transfer setter. Booth was blocking. Smrek was no where to be seen. Which could be concerning. I know she has had a few injuries that have pulled her for a couple weeks in prior seasons.

Anybody finding any media coverage on our team? I find little. Which is stunning to me.

Would be shocked. She’s a really strong passer compared to most OHs (I think it’s underrated how well her and orzol passed when it was just the 2 of them for those rotations last year), her defense improved a lot last year and her backrow attack is a good weapon to have, especially if orzol isn’t quite as efficient up front it’ll be nice to have that option and keep the block honest with the threat of a back row attack. I think orzol and Franklin stay in, then DS either Smrek or robsinon on the right. It’ll be nice to have so many subs to work with compared to past years This made me think of 2 possible scenarios, for some rotations, if Franklin is front row and there’s a DS who can pass well in for whoever is on the right, it could be a good advantage to have orzol, the DS and the libero pass those rotations and let Franklin just focus on potentially hitting that first ball. So wouldn’t be out of need or because Franklin is a bad passer just because those possible rotations would have fewer weapons already. If Charlie is ever abused on the block up front (I know she’s known as a solid blocker but she’s gonna be asked to block some very tall, very good players that she hasn’t done much) they could do some kind of double sub where Crawford or someone comes in mostly just to block, and Anderson plays in the back and sets for 3 rotations. Don’t think it’s something they ever really did with Hilley or Carlini but could be a good way to utilize Crawford or whoever is not starting of that crews blocking ability. These kinds of situational substitution schemes are what make the 5-1 a real strong option, IMO.

A few times last year I think they just got beat down in a rotation and either Sheff didn't think any alternatives were better, or they had not practiced anything to switch it up.

I'm hopeful Lauren Carlini may be the volunteer assistant. She can also mentor Charlie. After practice, Carlini will go and train with Charlie's dad.... -- WIN -- WIN
I am putting it out into the universe.

LOVB tickets. No thank you! Yes it’s a double header but I am not paying $83 plus $9 per ticket fee. This is in section T on the corner.

I find it quite wholesome that Larson is now coaching at Nebraska, I’m manifesting that Lauren has the bandwidth to do the same.
