With MJ and Izzy gone it’s not like we have many options. We have two recruits coming in 2024 that set. Check out Morgan Van Wie If Van Wie sets in 2024 it means either she came in way above expectations, or Fuerbringer is hurt/a major disappointment. For next year Fuerbringer's expected setting level is way ahead of Van Wie's. Sheffield doesn't really promise anything, though, and there's no guarantee that once Addy Horner comes in that we don't go back to a 6-2. If all four MB/RS's stick around (hard to see why Booth wouldn't so it's the other three to be concerned about) then one of them will end up coming in off the bench, and they all have to know that. Since Devyn and CC are probably walking this year, you'd think it would be one of them who transfers out, and maybe we don't figure out who until after Spring ball. I really hope at least one of Izzy and MJ stick around and practice with the team in the spring - although, if Izzy graduates this semester I don't see why she would. If not, then I suppose it's a chance for GG and Saige to practice their overhand setting.

2 freshman setters just took their team to the national championship game. With Robinson, Smrek, Franklin and Crawford in their last year we need to be ready to compete for a natty next year. Luckily it sounds like Charlie will be up to that task. Putting a LOT of pressure on a freshman that won't start early. We're going to start out with a bunch of struggles I think as the team iron out the connections on the fly. Might not see a fully clicking Wisconsin till late in the season. Which is fine, but it means we might not be in contention for hosting. Yah, those 2 matches next year against Texas and Stanford Labor Day Weekend could be ugly. Don't know though, Charlie's supposed to be the real deal. REALLY looking forward to elite level setting.

Tosia will not only be new to college, but new to the US and could see similar adjustment struggles like GG. Dev provides starting MB and starting/backup potential for the RS. We can’t go into 2024 thin like this year.

Let's get Charlie some regular coaching sessions with Carlini please.

There is no way Anna is playing middle anymore with her efficiency in blocking the OHs. I can see Robinson in the middle and CC sitting. We also will have a freshman MB taller than either CC or Robinson. So several options at MB2. Too many really; I could see CC or Devin retiring or transferring with Franklin, Carter and Smrek established at OH1, MB1 and RS. We’ll get a transfer for OH2 and Wrobel could return from injury. Fuerbringer will be Setter. And with Damrow also returning from injury, and two new DSs to compete with GG and Orzul, our smalls will be replenished. We’ll have enough talent in 2024 to be a contender. It will be Sheffield’s challenge to gel that into a National Championship. One thing for sure is our terrible weaknesses in the service game needs to be shored up.

I hope Sheffield decides to nurture a new DS in 2024 because I don’t see any improvement in GG anymore. I have to admit that Sheffield’s political games scare me. I wouldn’t be upset if GG went into the portal. Seems like deadweight to me after watching such little progress this season Is tonight the only match you watched? Go look at the Oregon match again. SMH...

SMH... I've followed every match this season, Rob. A single standout performance isn't enough to convince me of her passing skills. We NEED elite-level passing if we want to win a natty. The season-long struggles, evident in her not being the libero, highlight this. Orzol wouldn't be considered for libero if GG were a consistently great passer.

GG had double-digit digs tonight, and was pretty much the only player who did anything from the service line - 11 points scored on 17 serves. Oregon was NOT her "single standout performance". If there was a "single standout performance" - one unlike the others - tonight was it.

To carter booth, who said she wanted to leave the gophers to play for Wisconsin to experience a national championship: uh, no comment.

I’m reminded of Sheff’s early season plea…”Be nice!” We can do better Badger fans in supporting our coaches and players on here. Their jobs are hard and their hearts are big. We’ll be better if they’re all back and believe we’re happy to have them back!
