I'm working through rewatching the last 3 sets. I really liked one play where Saige took second ball way on right sideline, maybe 2/3 of the way back, bump set Orzol, then hustled over to cover and got a cover on the left front sideline by the antennae.

[More likely they knew GG was going to play earlier, so Damrow was probably aware she'd be playing for longer than that, just not at libero. Saige was interviewed by Arias last night. She said she was informed in the locker room, 30 minutes before the start of the match.

You just have to tip your cap sometimes. I know Hanson was often going hard line to go for tool. They also were swinging high in general. It's possible are blocking strategy in first 3 sets had issues as Smrek was giving up quite a bit of line. However, per usual, Booth is often late to close which doesn't help. If Smrek sets up further line, that would make it even more unlikely that Booth closes. These two things are both true and I cannot square the circle: 1) Cardi B looks late every time she tries to get laterally to the pin. 2) Cardi B is 2nd in the B1G in blocks per set. I can't make it make sense. (One obvious explanation is that just because she looks late _to me_, maybe I'm not seeing the game with sufficient acumen to really understand what's happening.) It's so true. To add to the conundrum, Booth closed to Franklin to block Grote for point 17 (of set 5), closed to Franklin again for another block back (but not down) on the next point (MN eventually won that point), and then closed to Smrek to block Wuecher on the other pin for point 18. I am not 100% sure she actually got a hand on the ball, it's just a best guess based on the angle of the swing.

Collectively we’re all cheering for Purdue tonight, right? Roger that. A Boiler win is (a part of) the only feasible way via which Bucky gets to share a B1G title.

The usual rotation #1, with Smrek, Booth, and Franklin up front and Charlie serving, appears like it should be powerful (literally the tallest combined height in college, if not the world), but it seems like we don’t score that much more with it. The sideout percentages disagree with this statement I suppose it’s true that Charlie has the best side-out percentage, but only 0.005 ahead of Schumacher. If you think 0.005 qualifies as “much more,” okay. Sideout percents by server for B1G matches (lower number the better) Charlie: 0.472 Orzol: 0.507 GG: 0.547 Franklin: 0.538 Schumacher: 0.477

We held their attack rate in check. It was our offense that wasn’t working the way it usually does. This is the same situation as was the Nebraska match. We held them in check in sets 4 and 5. Sets 1-3 we did not hold back their offense at all. They were hitting above their season avg the first 3 sets. Okay, upon further investigation, you are right -- The story changed from set to set. Minn. 1: 0.306 2: 0.292 3: 0.244 4: 0.048 5: 0.194 T: 0.208Wisc. 1: 0.429 2: -0.073 3: 0.136 4: 0.170 5: 0.233 T: 0.158
