15 matches ago, pretty much once Kelly decided Saige wasn't it, GG was struggling, and then Lola hit the court for the last 2 sets of the comeback 5-set win against TCU. GG inexplicably came in to start and play the whole match against Minnesota, a loss, but other than that, it's been Lola-palooza. Yeh I hope when later in the season it is decided who hosts regionals and its super close we could miss out because of decisions like that. Things are definitely looking up now though. If we can defeat Nebraska at home and yet Charlie is still improving game to game 😤 IF (it's a big if) we can beat Nebraska at the Fieldhouse, then we are good enough to go 18-2 in the B1G which would put us, if not hosting, at least in the top 6 (so we could avoid playing away against Nebraska or Pitt). I have no basis for this, it's just feel. 17-3 (23-6 overall) is a lot scarier, which is what would happen if we get swept by Nebraska or if we split with them but lose one more (say, PSU at home or one of the LA games). Based on how this committee seems to work, though, the big wins are really impactful, so if we can go 2-0 in the Fieldhouse against Neb and PSU (with the away win at Purdue to show we're not just good at home), even if we lose two more overall we still are in good shape.

Anyway I think we’ll beat Nebraska. Cook has never figured out how to overcome his team’s height disadvantage. Are we pretending they didn't take a match last year? Lol I'd favor Wisconsin in Madison though, that's been the bigger issue for Cook. Smrek was out with an injury in the match Nebraska won last year. I don’t think Nebraska has ever won a match where Rettke or Smrek was playing.

And Nebraska beat Rettke in 2017, too.

I have extremely vivid memory of that game.
Smrek played. It was Robinson who came out of a week long injury, thus she's rusty and had a bad game. And CC awarded Nebraska with 2 nets at the very end, with 1 kill if not net.(2-point swing).
Yes, I think we should have won that game.

Yes, I think we should have won that game. The end of that match was brutal. Badgers really shot themselves in the foot. I think CC had three BHEs that set all told?

When did Wisconsin decide to go to just one libero? Just watched the Purdue match and I would say based off of that match it was a smart move. 15 matches ago, pretty much once Kelly decided Saige wasn't it, GG was struggling, and then Lola hit the court for the last 2 sets of the comeback 5-set win against TCU. If the match affects our chances of winning the championship, I will never forget it.

While I was recalling my memery of CC's nets, I agree with you that she had 3. And 2-point swing was a Murray's hitting error, not a kill.

Robinson had missed three matches just prior to the match in Lincoln. But vs Nebraska, she had 10 kills, 5 errors, 0.179, 5 block-assists and 2 net calls. Not the greatest match she ever played, but against such a quality opponent, I wouldn't call it "bad".

.............. it's a judgement call, not challengable.

We are stating that injuries and circumstances caused us to lose a 5 setter. Yes.. I'll say it. WI was better but played you at the wrong time at Deveiney (yes, I also added an "I"). LOL as you just got done making some claim about how Nebraska fans don't give opponents credit when they beat them. That is some hilarious irony. Wisconsin has won tons of matches against Nebraska in Sheffield's time there. You don't have to magically erase the occasional L, attributing it to "circumstances". Even if it's true?

If the match affects our chances of winning the championship, I will never forget it. For all we know, that was the warning shot that Lola needed to work harder at practice (and/or outside of it) to be able to lock it down such that we could compete for a title.

Even if I wanted to believe it, I would like the switch to be vs Troy/Milwaukee. Nonetheless, it was a bad call imo.

Lola did not play that well at L in the two matches leading into the gopher match. GG was passing way better than her in those matches based on the stats Avid was posting. It was not crazy that Sheff started GG at L that match given the data coming into it. What’s a little harder to understand is why Sheffield stuck with GG through the match. But I guess he was trying to have one of them make a claim, and that would include recovering form during a match. He did not want his libero looking over her shoulder during a match. If that choice got Lola to focus on what she needed to do, the choice was worth it.

I am getting really tired of hearing this "GG passed better than Lola" excuse. Lola won games GG did not. And I am no Lola stan at all, I speak for justice.
