Lola did not play that well at L in the two matches leading into the gopher match. GG was passing way better than her in those matches based on the stats Avid was posting. It was not crazy that Sheff started GG at L that match given the data coming into it. What’s a little harder to understand is why Sheffield stuck with GG through the match. But I guess he was trying to have one of them make a claim, and that would include recovering form during a match. He did not want his libero looking over her shoulder during a match. If that choice got Lola to focus on what she needed to do, the choice was worth it.
I am getting really tired of listening this "GG passed better than Lola" excuse. Lola won games GG did not.
But for the MN match it was true - she was getting ROASTED in SR. In the 3 matches before MN, she was aced 7 times (GG only 3). I don't think any of us were surprised that GG started at Libero, but it was shocking that Sheff didn't switch Lola in at the 3rd set or at least for the 4th, when it was clear GG was having passing problems. To be fair, Lola got aced once as well. We were hiding Lola in SR; it makes sense Kelly would switch to get GGs 2nd ball contact in for more rotations.

I wonder at what point you people start accepting the fact that GG can't pass? A fleeting moment shouldn't be amplified.

3 games isn't a fleeting moment, and GG was passing decently as a DS. US PEOPLE were mad at Sheff for not bailing on the GG libero experiment mid-match, so I don't know why you continue to argue this.

So you can't excuse a 3-game long passing stat for a FRESHMAN while winning games in spite of it? And happy for a switch to a JUNIOR who is known for shanking?
To make things clear, I admit GG is a vital part to the team. Just don't have her pass. It was a poor decision and I won't stand down.

Future historians, please take note: Badger fans never stopped relitigating the libero wars of 2024.

unless that Minnesota game means absolutely nothing, i.e. regional host and league title(including outright).

OMG, that's terrible! 😥 So sad for her. Such a great Badger one of the best culture gals we've had.

My only point is that Lola won the L jersey after the gopher match. Not before that. There was no inexplicable shift to GG that match. The L jersey had not been settled. After that match, the L jersey was settled, but only because Lola took the reins and did what she needed to do. She kept performing where GG could not.

Not what one needs from a libero, particularly one that's being targeted she's so bad.

Maybe Charlie was so sore from serving and that's why her setting regressed a bit today. They did this away from home, against a very good blocking team. But they've got better in them, and I think it needs to be better to have a decent chance against Nebraska Friday. She balled out today!!! I was so proud of her. This schedule was perfectly built. Toughest teams in the beginning. She held her own. Now they are rising at the right time. I agree!!!!

She has done way better after the gopher match. The badgers have only had a fixed libero since then. I’ve been the biggest Lola stan on here since spring, and even I can see this.
