Thanks. I was thinking 2026 recruits. 🤪 I think Natalie was at the match Saturday against Pen St. Big Tall blond with parent sitting near team parent area. Madison was in Green Bay for State Championship.

God, I still miss Laura Abbinante, Amy Lee, Sherisa Livingston, Sheila Shaw, Jill Odenthal, Deme Morales, Kelli Bates and on and on and on. It's hell being an old volleyball fan. 😐 But it's also a great legacy to be aware of. Regarding those early teams before the Big Ten Network, could one find the Wisconsin volleyball REGULAR season games on television or cable? Possibly PBS out of Madison? There was a league match of the week on what has been Fox Sports and Bally Sports, usually tape delayed to Sunday afternoon from the weekend. Dave Loane and Audrey DiPronio did a great job on the broadcasts.

First time hearing this podcast. It's giving mean coach scolding the team in the locker room after a loss. What a dour way to deliver analysis, glad she's not a coach. Thanks for sharing, will stick to the other pods that can dive into what went wrong for a team without negging players! Oh my goodness, I was thinking "yes, podcasts should be incisive and critical" when I read this comment but after listening you aren't kidding! They went SO hard after Penn State and Minnesota. OTOH, them talking about Nebraska's serving strategy vs Penn State's got me thinking about this vs last week and reinforced in my mind how well Nebraska prepared for us. I really think John Cook and his staff really decided they wanted to deliver a statement and they prepped SO well for us. Which, is a gift because the girls got to stare that in the face and decide whether they wanted to be better and clearly that's working for them so far (it just sucks that if we win out except for at Nebraska, we may very well be heading back to Nebraska because I don't think we'd be top 6 after that)

Everybody gets hung up on the badger passing as a driving difference between matches. Badger passing is not perfect, but there is literally no evidence that it differed materially. It also didn't seem from the eyetest that passing differed much, and if anything it was worse against PSU. Something else accounts for the discrepancy between the matches. I personally think it was a the connections on transition.

But I really felt they won at the net, both by planning well for our big hitters (e.g. the triple block against Frank) and exploiting the weaknesses in our block, in particular Booth's lateral movement. I also just think it is a bad matchup. And I think Nebraska is just that good. Which I hate.

Thanks for sharing, will stick to the other pods that can dive into what went wrong for a team without negging players! Different strokes for different folks. This podcast would be great for a traditional fan and not family of volleyball players or players themselves who may tend to be on the sensitive side.
She (Povan) stated that she wasn't the biggest fan of Charlie leading up to this game. So what? I want someone to tell me what I have to work on not blow sunshine and rainbows. Didn't agree with some of what they stated but learned more about the game then many other podcasts you will see out there. Detailed and interesting, I will take that each and every time.
I also would think a player hoping to play at high level would welcome the critiques and go test the assertions of the podcasters. I also didn't notice a huge difference in the passing from one match to the other. PSU is definitely more one dimensional than Nebraska so the Huskers had/have multiple ways to force errors out of a less-jelled Badger team at the end of hard-fought sets. The Badgers just choked in my opinion, but how many teams can handle the Huskers' talent? Not many. I hope the Badgers consider seriously the comments from Pavan and Schulz. 🫡

Both Penn st and Purdue relying on their outsides is going against our strength. Beason is a difference maker in matchup vs Wisconsin. That along strong serving, perfect passing, great defense and the effort to triple block Frank just made it the perfect storm.

The game match we saw Penn State put very little service pressure on us. I think some were probably put off from her comments because she thinks lomg term the Badgers performance was more of an anomoly when challenging an assertion made by her cohost. I'd rather listen to Pavan 7 days a week and twice on Sundays then Emily Ehman or those like her especially if one wants an unvarnished look at the match. Hype women serve no purpose to me as in "no lookie cookie" I will also make sure I'm listening to her reaction after Wisconsin exacts revenge upon Nebraska in Lincoln. lol

Nebraska has no weaknesses really if Taylor Landfair is gonna play like she did. We could play our best match and still lose. We will need to throw a few wrinkles at Cook, up our service pressure, and not be dominated at the MB position. Agsinst Nebraska Jackson and Allick were >>> then Dev/CC/Booth. We need to bridge that gap in Lincoln.

If you crack their passing, they will fall apart because they are so used to perfect serve receive. But with addition of Mauch, that has become really hard to do, maybe impossible. I think Wisconsin dominating the blocking game is probably the only route to winning. But at least we do have the blocking to make it possible.

I felt that Reilly was overrated last year and didn't set well in big games or when she was out of system. Which, may have been a freshman thing because I haven't seen that this year. Getting them out of system is necessary. But I wouldn't call it a weakness for them. Not this year.
